a new thread would be good...I am curious to see how this works out for you...looks pretty lousy to me from reading these posts..BUT..one thing I have learned the hard way...you have to decide for yourself whether something is for you or isnt.
I may drive a truck but I am still gonna wear my Chanel sunglasses!

Yes there has been a lot of negative information. Thing that gets me, why stick with the job for so long and then leave. Now I know unkut was forced out. That sucks and I hope you came out better in the end with a better job?

But what I have found with my jobs as a supervisor. Some times people are just not cut out for a certain job. For example I hire a guy to clean a store during open hours. This guy was always hiding and just not getting the job done. Almost fired him. But I lucked out and asked him to cover a night shift one time. The building looked almost brand new in the morning. He has been with the company 10 years now and is charge of the building and grounds. Come to find out he just didnt like being around the people. Sounds silly but true.

I mean no disrespect to anyone who has shared with me. I am not judging or suggesting it was you that couldnt hack it or what ever. Not at all. But I have found myself wondering how people do certain jobs, then you ask them and they love it.

I am hoping this is that for me. I have been a farm boy my entire life. I put in long hours at my current job so thats not the issue. In fact I have never had that dream 40 hours a week job. But most importantly I like to challenge myself. In fact I will take it to the next level. I want a stable dependable job. While Coke might be a hard job, its not going anywhere. And as long as I do my job and stay healthy I should be ok. Seems as I read about trucking in general there is a LARGE amount of turn over. That is no secret here of coarse. But it is what you put into it. You can take two guys running the same route for same company. One will hate it, and the next will run that route until it drys up or he retires. The that quits will tell you all the bad, and how horrible it was working there. When it could of been just his attitude. Maybe he wanted a pay check, but didnt want to work for it.

Sorry to ramble. Just wanted to explain my thought process for people who may read this. The information on the site is very valuable. Rather I find I love Coke or end up with my own horror story at least some others can read it and take what they want from it.

    Thanks again for the input.

    tl;dr

if you're going to drive for Coke then please don't be like 95% of the idiot soda truck drivers I see out there and park in the road or in front of the loading dock if you're not actively using it.

Seriously, there is nothing more annoying then being a food service worker or LTL driver and seeing a Coke or Pepsi truck parked INBETWEEN both dock doors while they go inside, through the front doors no less.

Wait until you get to deal with the majority of the very rude receivers in these stores. Try beating 3-5 bread guys, 2 ice cream guys, 2 pizza guys, 2-3 potato chip vendors and the other soda guys to the dock and ring the buzzer at WalMart, real joy let me tell ya. The equipment at the Charleston,IL plant is junk. Slip seat,no A/C, one morning the trailer I had did not have a plate on it. Told supervisor about it and he said take it anyway, tell DOT it must have fell off.LOL. Then when you get back at the end of a very trying day you get to do your paperwork and make your deposit. CCE has a huge turnover rate around here as well. Plant was union, now non-union. Now I work for the railroad, shortline. Home everyday and no more slave wages. I did the CCE thing for 2 months, would not wish that underpaid job on my worst enemy. They should just let WalMart run the place anyway, they call the shots about the delivery schedule. They get their soda first. Also, the salesmen that place the orders for the bulk route are all about the commission. Many times I would get orders refused because the salesman thought he could slide some more soda in on em,that they did not need, and line his pockets.Takes a weak mind and a strong back to stay at this job for long. And I also think it is funny that CCE lost its contract with the U of I in Champaign,IL. Pepsi is in there now.

Default work for coke now in las vegas

I am 1 week from quitting cce here in las vegas. It is the kind of job that takes a special person to get used too.....I dont enjoy driving a truck all summer lomg w/o ac , the mirrors shake so bad you cant see anything when backing, the pallet jacks are junk and the one that do work are used by senior drivers.......which in my opinion is deserved because if you do that job for that long then you need it....lol....walmart is without a doubt the biggest pain in the ass company I have ever come across.....they act as if they rule the world and they make 8.00 hr....lol....stop working for this company people.....get a real job with some respect....like a driver....lol

I will be going back over th road now....and am excited to do so......4 months removed.......but just in time for winter.......

    but goodluck
