I heard Roehl was good, heard a lot of good things from the drivers. But I have no idea what H.O.W is. So I wouldn't be able to say anything on that.
Sorry aobu that, H.O.W. Is H.O. Wolding out of Wisconsin. a smaller operation. around 400 trucks I think. I'm also including TMC in the mix as far as where I should go for training. Please enlighten me guys! Thanks in advance!
If you want the best training in the business you should take a serious look at Schneider National. They stress safety, safety, safety and doing everything by the book. 8)

Thanks for the tip flyer, but since I'm from Minnesota and you mention Farve in your signature, I don't know that you can be trusted.![]()
Ive been with Roehl a few weeks and they seam to be great so far, I have not found one lie that they told to me, very up front and honest, and all about safety.
Thanks redlight. how many people were in your orientation? I had a classmate from CDL school start there on July 29th I think. Do they really get you back home inside of 12 days after evolution 1?
I can't tell you much about either company but after seeing alot of both companies equipment I would say go with Roehl. What I have seen of H.O. Woldings trucks I was NOT impressed. Well maintained equipment goes hand-in-hand with being able to turn miles (money) and SAFETY !
Just my $.02,
Ridge

I got home on my 10th day
As a new driver it is best to start out with well maintained trucks so you can be safer behind the wheel. There are many things that can go wrong with older trucks. Besides the turbo going out, I once had the metal coil hose rust through and it directed diesel fuel fumes into the cab of my truck through the AC vents which were blowing as hard as they could. It looked like white frosty air blowing in but it was highly flammable diesel fumes. Thank God I don't smoke or I would be dead right then. You also want stronger, newer Jake Brakes for Colorado and other big hills. There is too much that you need to get used to before working with older trucks which require you to know more about driving.
GOOD LUCK!!!
.
roehl stresses safety from day one. the orientation classes run about 6 to 10 per class sometimes a little more. orientation is 3.5 days and then you go out with a trainer for 10 to 13 days. sometimes you go home between orientation and training to wait for a trainer. tmc 's training is 8 weeks long with one trainer same truck to long for me. i've been with roehl for 18 months and havent had any problems with them.
Thanks for the advice guys! Going with Roehl seems to be my best bet for both safety and a company that does what they say (even though I know NONE of them can do everything they promise!) Now on to a more important issue.....
How do you send the lot lizards away and not end up with flat tires? :asta:

How many miles do you run aweek? What is start off pay? I've been out truck since april 2005. Wonder how long is the refresher course?Originally Posted by Redlight
NewDude29...if you have any questions about Roehl please PM me. Finishing up my 2nd year with Roehl and would be happy to answer your questions. My first year was not easy with them but I have survived and am making a fairly decent living with them. I am nationwide van and have limited time at night for internet time so have a bit of patience for my response.

Soladad pm me or email me please i have some questions about roehl's training
i've been with Schneider since June 06.
i hired on as a recent CDL grad. Roehl wouldn't touch me cuz i had taken a 2 week class, and they require either no training or 4 weeks (?)
anyhow, SNI is a bit slow to start, but they teach you everything you need to know. they got me my truck by the 3rd week of July.
the trick is you have to listen, take direction, and apply what they teach you.
I hear they have a very military style of training, and not everyone makes the cut.
Since i had been a recent CDL grad, they not only didn't make me sign a contract, but they reimbursed me my tuition at $200 a week. i'm a bit short, but i just paid off my truck school, and i don't feel like hounding them for the balance, but i'll look into it.
Anyhow, SNI pays the bottom of the scale, but what do you expect for a company that takes on so many rookie drivers? If you work hard and don't mess up, it's a good company. I've been shopping around, and I'm hard pressed to find a place I'd rather go, just for fear of the unforseen BS i'll have to deal with.
Solodad: could you please PM me or email me at ecaffNOSPAM@att.net (remove NOSPAM from the address). I have applied for a job as a driver manager, and am curious about this company.
Thanks buddy,
Erick
