I have found ...from personal experience....that with "prudent routing" the increase can be better than 9 to 10%. If one stays on the interstates day in and day out...5% is probably close. But then, also, staying on the interstates all the time... can end up being a 0% improvement.

I just finished a run from Valdosta, GA to Crestline, KS.... paid mileage on Practical Miles is 1043. Quickest all interstate routing distance is 1083, but I took the shortest legal route and drove it in 926 miles by not running interstates except when necessary. As you can see...I beat the paid mileage by 117 miles, which is greater than 10%. I can only imagine that under HHG, the paid mileage would be about 913.

I was loaded, and ran the run under 48 hours, was at the receivers location in about 36 hours, got a good nights sleep, unloaded in the AM and then headed MT for Louisville, KY.... paid 573 miles, I did it in 562. So the often you can beat Practical Miles even. I would guess that HHG on the second leg would be about 520 to 530. So...you can see that Practical Miles is a better deal.

I agree with ColdFrostyMug....that accepting "stock options" in lieu of actual pay....is ludicrous. From my recollection...trucking company stocks are not the best performers. You would do better to take the higher pay and put the difference in an S&P 500 mutual fund....... 8)
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!

Remember: The "truth WILL set you free"! If it doesn't "set you free"....."it will trap you in the cesspool of your own design".

They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.
