Default Looking for Local Houston Runs.

I've searched but haven't really found the answer I'm looking for.
My brother owns a few trucks one of which is at my disposal.
I have 3 months OTR experience and have decided that no matter what I cannot drive team anymore and it has been harder on my family then I thought it would with me being gone for 3-4 weeks at a time. So I'm looking for a Houston area company that needs owner/operators or wanting to hire drivers with limited experience with no hazmat. I would prefer van but I am not against flatbeds. I want to run the local area within a 250 mile radius or slightly more. The truck I have access to is a 1998 Mack. Its in very good condition. 709000 miles. New steer tires. 80% on retread drive tires. New shocks. Fully serviced and ready to go.
Any help or recommendations are appreciated.
    Thanks!

I think Grocers Supply hires with limited exp. and I had a CDL classmate get a gig right out of school with Mim's Meats. But he may of had a inside connection for that.

Off the top of my head those are the only two that come to mind.

You might try the fuel outfits....I'm in the D/FW area, and the O/O that I have met are very happy with the money they are making.

    Just a though.
Deja moo. It's when you feel you have heard this BS before.

Now there is a thought...TexasTrans-Eastern in Baytown, hires on O/O's, as does United Petroleum Transport in Channelview. Look up General Marine Services as well. They hire O/O's too.

    Default Grocer's Supply

I tried Grocer's Supply when I lived in Houston. The pay is (was) excellent, and you could get home after 5-6 hours if your route goes ok. You get activity pay, not hourly (at least, back then) so it didn't affect your check. They have company drivers only, and you'll start out on dry van at first. You could expect refrigerated runs after about 4 months or so.

It's all live unload, palletized driver assist, and driver count. The benefits are excellent from what I remember (several years ago). The equipment is a bit on the old side (the trailers anyway) but their shop seemed to be on top of things.

Why didn't I stay? I found out I *HATE* city driving!

I've recommended them to a friend of mine in the Houston area who's thinking on getting his CDL.

You should go down To The Port of Houston and talk to the guys that haul containers out of there. There should be plenty of work and most of the guys are driving older trucks. BOL
