Default ok i really need to know about Knight

Before i go to another crappy company. Is it true what I here about Knight? They have a 2500 mile a week gaurantee? I asked to recruiter when I talked to her before and she its company policy but she didt say anything about gaurantee. I cant do this anymore I just got load to pickup tomorrow morning 20 miles down the road and a 200 mile run. They gave more than a day to get it there. I can get this load there sooner than 24 hours. So to wrap up the week it looks like right around 1200 miles

Will you get 2500 miles or more every week with Knight? No

Will you average at least 2500 miles per week over the course of a year? Yes.

Dispatchers are required to get you as close to 2500 miles per week as they can and still meet your home time requests as they can or they have to answer for it. While Knight is a non forced dispatch company, the driver has to be cooperative and careful when it comes to turning down loads. Turn down too many loads and you may find your home time request tossed aside.

    where exactly is "Metro East?"

If it's where i think it is, you'd be better off considering Smith Transportation/Transport? And/or Marten transport.

I know nothing about Knight except that you'd be better off considering the above to companies over it.

Knight has tons of freight in and out of the St Louis area. There would be no problem getting you home when you want. They also have a secure drop yard in that area if you need a place to park your rig or drop a trailer at when you do go home.

What about Arthur Wells Inc, right out of St. Louis. Yeah, their trucks are older, but they get you home every weekend, and they pay really good per mile and the miles are there. I don't work there, but a friend of mine just send of his application to them.
For Anthony, who was taken from our lives much too young. I love you honey, and I will always miss you.

Knight will get you the miles. It is company policy to get 10,500 miles a month. Some weeks will be lower then 2500 but not by much. I had only a few weeks that was below 2500 since I started. Most of the time miles was around 2800 to 3000 a week. You will get home when you need to be as well. BOL

Hey, I just applied to Knight at the Kansas City terminal. I know there is at least one guy on here that runs outta the terminal on here. I have tried to call the HR department in KC and just get a message all the time? Is there something going on in that terminal.. Is that an issue? Maybe you all don't need anyone at this time. Maybe I will just go apply somewhere else. I donno. Any info would be good.. Thanks!

Unless things have changed there is only 1 or 2 people that handle recruiting at the KC terminal which can make getting through a bit rough at times. If you get voice mail be sure to leave a message and they should get back to you before the end of the day.

Ever notice that when someone asks a question about any trucking company, someone always chimes in and says "I have a friend drive for them" or I ran into one of their drivers and he said.." so on and so forth.....

Well then your friend was not playing it very smart. While I was pre-planned on many loads that would have required me to run in violation of the HOS I never had a problem getting the appointment times changed to something that allowed me to be safe, rested, and legal.

Knight is a different ball game compared to most trucking companies, which is something many drivers have a hard time grasping. It is also something new dispatchers coming into the company have a hard time understanding.

    Default Knight

I never, I mean never run over hours!!!! If your friend knew what he was talking about he would know that when you go over your legal hours you will get a message to stop the truck in a safe place and take your break.
If you don't stop you will get a phone call from safety to verbally tell you to stop. If you still keep driving you will be TERMINATED!!!

Knight pre-plans you to keep you moving. There is no trouble running 3,000 miles per week and do it legally.

Like Uturn said, "Knight is a diifferent kind of company." A very excellent statement. If other companies would follow what Knight does their turnover rate would drop dramatically.

As far as what was said by another poster about Smith Transport......If you like never getting out of the northeast then they would be a good choice. I have talked with quite a few of their drivers that weren't very happy. But I don't know because I never worked for them. However I have driven for Knight long enough to realize I will be staying here for a long time.

I am on pace to make about $60,000 this year  arty: And not having to work very hard to do it either. I have never touched any freight, and alot of drop and hook.

Default Communication - It's SUPPOSED to Work Both Ways...

Hmm, would we be talking about something called "COMMUNICATION"?

In any respectable trucking company, "SAFETY" should be the nuclear option. If you're issued an illegal dispatch, you should be able to simply say (after you've exhausted all other productive avenues) "Let's run this by Safety and see what their position is." If dispatch doesn't back off from an illegal dispatch after that, I would be very hesitant to work for them further.

    Bill

    EDIT:

Forgot to mention: going to Chicago orientation 8/7. And I wouldn't be if I had any suspicion of Knight trying to go "outlaw."
