Lotsa Millis info at truckersroad.com. I know they also haul alot of rolled paper. Are you looking into training or do you have experiance? They changed their training policy if you need it. Used to be you pay 'em $500 up front, stay a year, and the remaining $2000 was waived. Now, you pay 'em the $500 up front, then repay the $2000 at $20 a week for 100 weeks, after you're hired.

I talked to a couple drivers at the loacl Millis yard in Streator IL. Helps I am friends with the shop guys there. According to them the company is going down hill fast turnover is at 140% so far this year. It used to be the senior drivers were given the new trucks right now they are giving the BRAND NEW ONES to people that are just starting with the company to get them in the door. They have cutback on PM's and they were at 50K between oil changes before now they want 100K before they even THINK about changing the oil in the engines. Pay is HHG which means add 20% to what the computer says. They lost some of they larger accounts when they got rid of the air rid trailers and went back to spring rides. They used to haul All-Glass Aquariums they lost that one when they quit buying air ride trailers.

Miles are down for all drivers. If you are a student and leave according to some on the training program they come after you for the ENTIRE COST of the schooling including the cost of the room and board and intrest to a tune of 6K. They used to be a good company but from SENIOR DRIVERS guys with 10+ years there and they are looking to leave STAY AWAY. I was there 6 months 97-98 and almost lost everything I owned then. I see not much has changed since then.

    I'm experienced.

Thought Millis was a good carrier, nice equip, and I know Eden Miller Brew very well. Thanks for your insite, sounds like more investigation is required before talks go any farther.

Thats who I work for. 8)

They are a very small company.
    Only 700 trucks or so.

My truck (a T2000) is maintained at 20K intervals.(Oil chg, etc)
    Its a clean machine.
I get about 2200 to 2500 miles per week.
    On occasion I break 3100.
(Ain't gonna get rich driving trucks)

    They pay Household,Practical,Per Diem,Straight
unless they changed it and have not told me.
    Its up to the driver.

    Alot of East Coast runs.(NY,NJ,etc)
Paper,Beer mainly.A majority of the time its all preloaded.
Every now and then you get an oddball crappy run.
But from my experience the runs tend to be 700 + miles.

About the only real complaint I have is they do not allow pets.

PSont confuse OTR with the local dedicated beer runs out of Miller and Anhauser Bush.
They have 2 divisions of driving.

    Default Millis

Trained with two different drivers, both experienced one is one of the longest tenured drivers in the company. Neither had one negative to say about the company nor have I heard much negative from other drivers. New drivers usually end up with 05-06 KW T-2000s. Experienced drivers with the company are driving 06-07 KW T600s as these are the newest in the fleet. They pay HHG or Practical Miles, and you can chose which pay scale you want (HHG or Practical). They also offer milieage incentives for obtaining over 2000 miles a week. So far they have been a very good company to work with.

I worked for them for over 3 years in 96-99. As time went on their true colors came out. They really dont care about drivers. Basically use you while they can. Lots of sitting around waiting for beer to be made, waiting for paper to be made. Bunch of driver unloads for crap money. A company to be avoided. Bottom feeders. Plenty of other good companies out there. Be patient.

hell, this ain't waiting at all, how about taking a load of fresh meat to Walmart and have a bad upc code on a SLCS (shippper load count seal) Load.

To hear all you dry van guys complain on waiting on loads, yea right!!!!!

you have a 2 am load time and at 6am you find out have to wait on the "on the hoof" thats still 100 miles away to arrive, and process to get the last 30 pounds of for your load.

    Zero Canada runs

New York state on a regular basis...100.00 extra to go into New York City

but you can tell them no and decline the run with no penalty

I drove for Millis from 04-06 and only left because I got a local job. you will haul alot of paper loads (big rolls), glass beer bottles, and of course Bud and Miller beer. Never touched a load, they paid for lumpers if needed. I normally received 2800 to 3200 miles a week, got 3400 couple of times, got home every other weekend. Home on Fri left back out on Mon. Lot of east coast or south and all point in between. If I was to go back otr, I'd give Millis a call.
