In a multi-division company such as Schneider, their "specialized" division was the glass haulers (flatbed). Some companies don't even use the name such as Werner, Arrow, Swift, or Roehl. Arrow does have a "specialized division", it's the over dimension group that uses articulated carriers where the "trailer" has several sections with each section having steerable axles for transporting refinery cracking towers which can exceed 100' in length.
Arrow used to have an area on their website that showed all their various types of "specialized" trailers over and above a regular 48' flatbed. I believe the site showed drop decks, RGNs, extendables, etc.
Some companies specialize in moving pericular types of loads such as pre-stressed over dimension concrete or steel beams where the rear bogies are attached to the beam with a very skinny "pole", relative to the dimension of the load (beam), attached to the fifth wheel. BOL
