    Default Yellow Freight Teams

Anybody know what they start at ?

    Do they split miles?

    Do they split pay?

How do they normally run, I assume they get a hotel since they have such small bunks.

Do they hire h/w teams together?

A friend of mine runs team for Yellow out of K.C. Mo. to Cal. and back. He's making money that's well worth the sacrifice of a small bunk. I don't think they layover it's terminal to terminal drop & hook.
I asked him about h/w team aspect and he said it was like some kind a bid process or something of that nature. So it didn't necessarily mean you'd be running together, unless I misunderstood him????

Right, bids are held on seniority and who wants them. So you don't have a choice of who is your team partner. They just run terminal to terminal and if there is a layover at a terminal they get you hotel rooms stay in. I do know that they give you plenty of time to get places but if your teamed up with someone that doesn't want to stop you can be in a bad situation. At a Union job the senior driver gets the respect so he will more than likely be the one to decide on how you run as a team.

Personally I would not run teams but some like it and the money is good. You run as a team so you split the millage so you both will make the same.

Thats the way Roadway does the teams so I would think Yellow would be about the same since they are both YRC.

Forgot to add, you go on the clock while you sit in the hotel room. Also depends on your local contract but you also might get an extra $12.00 for every eight hours for meals. Yellow also pays $240.00 a week for your free health and welfare benefits.

I understand they are slow, but they don't offer hourly pay for teams. They are paid by the mile, they go on the clock when they are not moving. But, whats the big deal that you pass them all the time?

funny how it seems to work out, the slower the truck the more $$ it pays, plus you don't have to worry about the bears, unless they are handing out sympathy cards.
