One of the companies that we own is TDT Trucking out of Lake City, FL. They do mostly flats and curtain sides.

Well, i'm not really the guy to help when it comes to O/O stuff, but if you're looking for decent OTR outfits of Florida, why don't you look at Commercial Carriers, or Lester Coggins. Commercial Carriers is a pretty decent outfit, but there's not a good likelihood of becoming an owner operator with them. LCT is another Florida based company, and the only reason i mention them, is because you're going to have a tough time finding someone to hire you out of south florida, LCT will, and they'll work with you to get you home on a fairly regular basis.

The reason that you are encountering problems with OTR companies, is because you have "no OTR experience".....which is something that they all require. Doesn't make a "lick of sense"....but thats how it is. Go figure.

I tend to agree with "millersod"..... Try Comcar to get your foot back in the door. They have a number of companies that are a part of them, and you should be able to get a leg up with them. If nothing else, maybe a check ride with a trainer and then you may be released.....

I wouldn't mention anything about the O/O thing initially..... just get the 1st seat rating first.....then explore that possibility.

Well, Arnold is in Jacksonville. I believe that Arnold is a HAZMAT company, though.

Perhaps, have you thought about working for SYSCO?

    1. Where exactly are you in SW FL??

    2. What are your $$ expectations??

    3. Are you focusing on Class A OTR??

    4. Or are you just being really picky??

    5. Have you gone to this website and looked for a job? http://www.ajb.dni.us Its a portal site to listings of all jobs registered with all 50 states to include FL and searchable by either city or zip code.

    http://www.jobsearch.org/seeker/jobs...rch_pageLink=1

The link above was a search I did for SW FL, using zipcode 33955 which is South Punta Gorda/ Cape Coral....and got back 5 pages of jobs. Not all were driving jobs, but were transportation and material handling related but there were alot of driving jobs listed in the 5 pages of jobs listed.

Just keep looking. Watch the ads in the papers. Put your name in everyone's hat. Something will come up.

Stay the heck away from Cypress unless you've got years of flatbed experience already! They hire school graduates, but you will not get a decent, safe truck to drive, and you'll perform weeks of cheap labor in their "training" regimen. Safety is a huge issue with that company.
