    bigdad7,

I'm supposed to start orientation with JB Hunt tomorrow, an "Ronnie" has me signed up with the PPG account. It sounds like the bennies are good, and on this account I'll be out 11 days and home 3 days. Have you heard of this account? I've read others post on this account, however, I was still wondering about this company. I've read just about as many pros as cons.

I'm know there's a lot of drivers that had a bad experience with many of the companies out here, it's just the "negative Nelly's" out here and their comments seem to hang out in the back of my mind. It gets pretty frustrating.

    Any advice would be great!

Neither one of you listened when people warned you, and both of you are being checked out by JB before orientation. You both don't want to hear it when it's bad.

You only want to hear the positive to be able to justify your decision.

Otherwise, you would have gone somewhere else.

Good luck with your decisions. Come back and let us know how things go.
Deja moo. It's when you feel you have heard this BS before.

I'm not actually sure I should sign up, wife wants me to find something local, says she and the kids won't be able to handle me coming home every other weekend again. She's afraid I'll get screwed like I did with Averitt, and my truck downtime will endup counting as my restart.

Personally I was gullable at that time because I was green, now I know better and there are better companies out there that will treat their drivers better. I received a letter from JB Hunt yesterday afternoon reminding me that my orientation was scheduled on the 29th! Heeeelllloooo? I know we had everything scheduled for this morning. And now after chatting with my wife about it, she's wanting to go back to work 3 days a week in stead of me being gone so long all the time. *(what a headache this has turned out to be)

It sounds like you're settling for the 1st job out there. Belileve me there are a ton of jobs out there, you just need to do your work in researching them. I just wanted to check out JB Hunt because the opportunities they have for going local in my area... now I know there are others in my area, but I need the bennies asap, due to Rx costs and I've got little kids that need to be covered because they get sick at the most inopportune times (luckily wife is an RN).

Sure I can look somewhere else, infact...I may have to just due to my families immediate needs at this time.

Don't sell yourself short, keep looking if you're having second thoughts, if at the end you actually can't find anything that fits your needs at the moment... JB Hunt will always be there. There not leaving anytime soon.
(besides, if you end up deciding on JB Hunt in the future, you can tell them it was because of Craig (AKA "Sheepdancer").

Anyway, Best of Luck to you...I've got to get going.

Watcher, sounds like OTR--even dedicated--may not be the right thing to do right now. Keep your head up and keep looking--you never know where a local driving job or even a dedicated account that brings you through the home every couple-of-days might pop up.
