Like most large companies, how many miles you get will depend on the driver manager (dispatcher) that you get assigned to. PAM is an average large company. You will make between $300-$900 per week. I know that is a large range, but the miles for driver doing general freight are all over the place. One week you will run 3000 miles, the next you will only get 1700 miles. For a more consistent paycheck, try to get on a dedicated account or run team. Since your from Ohio, look into PDS (Pam Dedicated Service) out of North Jackson, OH. If you are married with kids and all don't do general freight. The swings in the miles will probably stress you out, if your family is depending on you to send home money every week. If your single and basically living out of your truck, you'll be OK on general freight.

Are you going with Driver Solutions? If so run like hell. The contract is probably the worst one around. They tell you you'll owe $5995 if you leave before a year. That's really high. What they don't tell you is you'll get hit with penalties, interest and fees in addition to the $5995. When it's all added up you'll owe between $9000-10000. Something to seriously think about.

One of the all time worst companies IMO.
I'm willing to die to protect my Right to Bear Arms.

Are you willing to die to take them away from me?

I drive for AFS, a division of PAM. I couldn't recommend working for PAM itself to anyone, but I do well working for AFS. We have our own mangagers, planners etc. I know I get loaded a lot places faster than the PAM drivers do, plus we have other perks like Detention pay. I guess its an ok place to get a start and get out.

I am a new driver, and new to this message board.I am suppose to start with AFS/PAM. I have been waiting for the physical and drug test results to come back. It seems like I am always calling them, trying to get my latest status.I've heard that Allen Freight Division is pretty good, kind of seperate from PAM.Could yo give me any training info. or company info that would be helpful? Thanks GCPK
