halliburton drivers questions within

Checking out their website. I'm curious, I see their requirements for trucking jobs, but what are their 'real world' requirements.



Do they have so many applicants that it's really competitive right now, or are they 'soft' on the number of years they require driving experience?

RC..where are you located? If you live close to a HOWCO terminal, drop in and see what they have to say.

I never worked for "Big Red", but I was a Do-weller...and back in the late 70's-early 80's, most of the Oil Service Companies would haire anybody who was able to walk and chew gum, while still breathing.

Now, they are a little bit chosey. You have to be able to pass the background check..whether you want to work for HOWCO or KBR.
KBR requires you have your Passport in hand when you apply. If you like the idea of driving really fast in a slow truck...that isn't bullet proof...KBR has a job for you..in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Now seriously...the easiest why you will find out what Halliburton is requiring of a driver as far as abilities..call..stop in..talk to them.

You would definately be making some decent money..as long as the bubble doesn't pop. And have great bennies along with it.

Thanks, I was going to 'have' to wait a year anyhow, so I have time. Maybe the jobs will die down, but the whole 'merc' industry is doing nothing but growing, there will be further opportunities down the road.

I would have to agree with you there. When I applied all they asked me was to have my CDL with Haz-mat and Tanker. I was all set to go till the first driver got his head chopped off. At that point I called and said I had a better offer that I was going to take. They asked me if I was sure and I said that I was the job I was taking was going to keep my head attached to my body.

Ok...I talked with the KBR people in November. If I remember correctly, the recruiter's name was Julie. Talked with plenty of recruiters the last 9 months.
I also had an E-mail from her, that lined out the specific's of what was required, to bring to Houston to complete the application proccess, and "Passport" was the first item needed, along with my CDL, and SS Card.
I looked in the deleted items folder of my e-mail, but it was already cleaned out. I deleted their last e-mail from 2 weeks ago, then emptied the folder...and now wish I had not done so.

I could have worked for Halliburton back in 1979, instead I went to work for their competitor, Dowell, which I felt was a better offer.

I do not know what anybody's experience with KBR or HOWCO is, but I know enough to understand that you do not leave the country without a passport and work visa. The job I was looking at doing, required that I start training on December the 15th, and complete training in Houston by January the 15th, with the holidays off. The job I had been interested in was one in which I have 18 years of experience, and only needed to be trained up to regain the required safety certificates. The reason I bowed out.....in the last phone conversation, after the nationwide conference call of prospects, in October, I learned that there are only two escort vehicles provided to the specific convoy's which I was going to be working with. Thanks Sally...but no thanks.

When I applied for my Passport in 2001, it took 6 weeks to get. Is it any faster now?

KBR furnishes the Passport and you don't need a Visa for Iraq and what you said about escorts in iraq is BS

Now...being as Cheney is Vice President, perhaps Halliburton can issue Passports.

Since you are so vehament at putting me in my place, I assume you worked for KBR. Perhaps you waited for KBR-Howco to expedite you a Passport? You did not have paperwork, authorizing you to work in a foreign land? Or paperwork to return to America, once that work was completed?
The only Ex-patriots that do not need a Work Visa, are Military.
KBR and Halliburton are not government functionaires. I say this, as I have traveled International for work purposes (UK, Guam, & AUS). I had a "Work Visa", and accompanying paperwork, every trip.
My best friend currently travels International for work purposes. In the last 4 years he has traveled to Eygpt, Norway, Indonesia, Columbia, Nigeria, Trinidad-Tobago, and Singapore. Some of those countries are on his annual visitation list. I have offered to travel with him as his Porter, for 50K a year....as long as the firm he works for, pay's the travel bills!! Each time he travels, the office in the country he is traveling to, e-mails him his "Invitation" to perform duties, his "Work Visa", as well as his travel, hotel and security details, while in country. He is also advised at that time, which immunization's he is required to have, if he has not had them recently administered. His last trip to Columbia netted me a half case of some very excellant coffee. From the fields of Juan Valdez.

On top of all that...I have known, over the years, men who helped build refineries, chemical plants, power plants & power lines, pipelines, and marine facilities, as well as drilling oilwells, all over the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the South American continents. All of them were consistent in talking about what was entailed in going to various countries to do their respective jobs.

I'm not into BS dude...neither am I a "Newbie".

Wrong again-We were classified Ex-Pats and were under direct orders of DOD and Dept. of the Army. No Visa's required plus passports were issued during last week of orientation in Houston.
Gun trucks are stationed every 3rd truck on a mission in Iraq.

Did you read the first line of my first post? I asked rsco where he was located, and suggested in stop by a Halliburton yard is he was living near one, and to ask them what was involved in working for them?
Halliburton Oilwell Services does not perform the same function as KBR. If rsco was interested in Halliburton Oilwell Services company, all he needs to do is stop by one of their terminals. He does not need to wait a year to become an experienced driver, to work for them, all he needs to be is warm bodied.

As far as the Passport issue Joopr....fine...ya don't need to have it in hand, KBR will get it for you. Not gonna argue what was spoken to me in November. I was simply stating previously what I KNOW was spoken to me. Any individual whom is interested in working for KBR needs to go through the process of inquiry...just as I did.
