Default Failed drug screen, am I done?

Last week, I failed a random drug test because some bozo friends of mine (former friends, I might add) gave me some pot brownies without telling me about the pot! This is the first time I have ever failed a whiz quiz in my life, and I did pass a random in late Sept., but I'm sure it's the one I failed that trucking companies will remember. The people who gave me the brownies have assured me they will testify before anyone they have to that I had no idea I was eating dope and they will accept the blame. My question is, what can I do to clear my name with prospective employers? Is there a process I can go thru to be able to drive class A in the future? Would going to a S.A.P. (even though I never do drugs) clear my DAC? I need some advice! Please help!
Well now, they call me the breeze.........I keep blowin' down the road.

And in how many forums are you going to place this???
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

Just these two. I would really like to talk to someone who can give me some sage advice, assuming that my situation can improve at all.

If i remember right, your done until you go through a S.A.P. There are companies out there that will hire you afterwards but they are hard to find.
My dispatcher wants to know why im not there yet, she says its only 2 inches away when she measured it on her map!

Thats right, supertrucker. I had no idea they did drugs. I've been friends with them for 12 years and to my knowledge they had never taken drugs, but apparently started to do so just recently. As for the other comment, I expect to be met with scepticism. I'm sure lots of people will assume the same thing he did, but those people are easy to ignore. I am left with trying to salvage a career in driving. I thought this website might be a good place to get some advice on what I need to do next. By the way, does anyone know what, exactly, DAC stands for?

Wow, are you screwed. Every application you fill out for a driver position is going to ask if you've ever failed a DOT random. You will now have to answer yes plus it's on your DAC. I'm not sure what SAP will do for you in the short term. As far as having your friends testify for you, that will hold no water as far as an employer is concerned. Best option is to apply to every company you can and hope for the best. Keep us posted and good luck to you.

supertrucker is a term used for the amount of post you have on the forum nothing more. I am just a hardworking driver. You just have to explain to potential employers what happened and try for the smaller companies. Keep trying keep a positive attitude and see what happens.

Actually I know of one company that won't sentence you to death for failing one test. It's a local one though. Long hours but good money and they usually need drivers, both dump and tanker.

And so you will; Mainly from potential employers. I,m not having a go at you or anything, I don,t even know you. But, you have to be realistic and place yourself in an employers shoes, and then think, would I employ a driver with a drugs record? If you,re honest with yourself, you would answer no.
Who,s gonna buy a £60,000 unit, hook it up to a trailer worth thousands, possibly carrying millions of dollars worth of goods and then give the keys to someone they know nothing about other than he has narcotics in his system?
Sad truth is mate, you,re finished. For a while at least.
I feel sorry for you, I really do.
Good luck for the future

Most amusing thing about this topic: most of the manager types are hitting the cocaine, big time. Drug war indeed, haha.

You said "but I'm sure it's the one I failed that trucking companies will remember." Yes that is the one they will are looking for. They are required by law to check your drug history. More on this shortly.

    You said: "
The people who gave me the brownies have assured me they will testify before anyone they have to that I had no idea I was eating dope and they will accept the blame." Think about this for a moment. Would you as an employer put any stock in this type of testimonial? Second point on this. What would think as an employer of someone that had friends that used drugs. And on top of that give someone food laced in drugs.

    You ask: "
Would going to a S.A.P." To be a driver you have to attend a S.A.P. program. Plus be tested a minimum of 12 random in the next year. The total number of test will be determined by the S.A.P. But the minimum number is 12.

If I remember you only have a class 'B' license and wanting to go over the road with a class 'A'. To be frank your chances are pretty slim. With no OTR experience plus the drug charge I don't see where there will be many companies would be interested. I'm sure their are a few but not many and most you wouldn't want to drive for any way.

With or without a DAC a company is required the research your drug history it is not an options.

My suggestion would be to forget driving for at least 10 years and find some other line of employment. I know this is not what you want to hear but in my judgment it would be the best course.

To give a little bit of where I'm coming from. I failed a drug test. Couldn't pee and didn't wait the required time so I was declared positive. BTW I had taken the random test 6 days before and passed. I went through the S.A.P. program (cost me $600). Still couldn't find a decent company to drive for and I had years of driving experience and owned my own truck. I did find a company to lease on with but wish I hadn't. The guy was worthless and I ended up loosing over $8000.

Like I said I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear but if I was you I'd learn a new trade and forget driving.
