if all your concerned about is driving faster than 65 maybe you need to find a different profession instead of professional truck driver

My truck is not governed at all. I never go over 65. I drive about the speed of traffic, but if other guys are passing me, that's fine....let 'em. There are probably a lot of trucks who are not passing me but I don't see them because they are behind me driving at a sane speed.

I think Interstate Dist. out of Washington is around 70 or so .

Why dont you try watching the names on the trucks that pass you and look them up online when you home ?

well i geuss I need to defend myself... first company was swift... hmmm lasted through the training... swift never lied to anyone else? and i was with may transportation... good company just not home that much. I recently went with knight on express fleet where its more like dedicated cause im home every sat and sun... so if you think by jumping until i find what fits is bad oh well. and i dont need to drive for nascar... but when you even have swift blowing by you.. i dont think wanting to be able to do 70 at times is a crime.

hey it's your life and your career so you do with it as you see fit.

But if you read through the tons of threads on here, you'll find one common denominator.......all the experienced folks will tell anyone that they need to do research, research, and more research before signing on with a company.

so if you think by jumping until i find what fits is bad oh well.
doesn't really matter what any of us think......but I bet you will be hard pressed to find a quality company that shares your sediments about job hoping.

    BOL to you........

You're home every weekend with Knight, a van outfit of all things, but have to do 65. What's the problem? Six months and you're ready to jump ship again? Why? For a few more mph? Knock knock! Anyone home? This isn't a game, it's real life. My advice? Stick with Knight. You got a good gig there, don't screw it up.

Oh, and every company lies about something. Not just in trucking. Actually, it may come as a shock, but everyone lies about something. Golly, rough world isn't it?

20mph is an exaggeration unless you're using a six-wheel dually for that load. As far as 0.37 cpm is concerned... did you inquire as to how many miles per week you'll be getting? Average wait for a load? Average wait to load and unload? Hometime? Benefits? Maybe I'm a dummy, but I've heard so many drivers go on and on about cpm, and jumping ship for a one or two cpm increase, but for whatever reason they don't mention the miles, or the waits, or the equipment, or the bennies, or the people at the office, or the loads, or the routes, or the hometime, or the vacation, or the customers, or the appointments, or the... well, you get it... I hope. I don't know. Trucking is a tough gig. I guess you gotta be tough to deal with it. I'm the type that doesn't complain and just does the best job I can do, day in and day out, but I won't let them step on me. I only do what's in my best interest.

Just stick with Knight. At least for a few more months, a year preferably. Then you can get on with a good LTL outfit and be home every night. Just don't complain when you get home at 8pm instead of 7.

I think you should give yourself a little time behind the wheel before you ask for a little more speed! Don't job hop when your still new at the game. There are a lot of self richous, to much time on their hands, who are on these forums more than they drive looking for someone to pick on. No 70 mph is not to fast, nor 75. Some states are 55, some 60, some70, and some 75 so who's to say what is to fast. Its a game the states play to get money for tickets. I do believe you should slow down in the city limits and always be on your guard! I wish you guys would leave these guys alone on the speed thing. He was not wanting to go 90, all he would like to do is keep up with traffic. I guess 70 is to fast for these legal beagle stool drivers. In Illinois the speed is 55, and at the state line in Indiana all of a sudden you get to go 65, go figure. Does anyone really think it is safer in Indiana to go 10 mph faster than in Illinois? The federal government says you may go 75, now the states want more ticket money and second guess the government to extort money from the public. What ever happened to you must follow the federal law even if state and local laws may be more or less strict, I think I worded it wrong but you know what I mean!!
My advise to you is pay your dues, get more experience, and don't job hop. Everything comes in time, don't push it. Welcome to the business and be careful!

I'd stay put for a while. One more job hop and you close doors at some of the better carriers.

Until our tractors were turned up a few months ago, I was passed by darn near everyone coming home over Donner to Reno. Its no big thing. Its about a 20 min difference between empties and 80k
