I tried... they were like well that wasn't very considerate... but over all Knight is a good company... wasnt even looking at another company and then i got a phone call with a promise of .37 a mile that got me thinking... but I do like the setup just not going 20 mph up a 5 % grade when im only carrying 32,000 lbs of cargo.... maybe i bitch too much who knows.

If who I think call you, they govern their trucks at 62-65.... I understand about the slipseating trucks with some nasty drivers, though. Try to stick it out...sometimes following a nasty driver is better than going to a nasty company. My .02 worth.

My trucks always go 71mph, whether its from Ryder or Penske. Its fast enough, except on the OK Tpk, thats about the only time I'd do 75mph anyway

Someone leaving their urine in a truck is not only nasty, it's a biohazard. Wonder what kind of fine Knight would have to fork over if they didn't get the situation under control and someone reported it to the proper authorities? At least that's what I'd hint at when I talked to the boss...

Sounds like you have a pretty good gig and just need to get some details straightened out.

To toss my hat in the ring, I would have to admit it is no fun doing 63mph in a 70 zone. Did that with 2 compnies as a company driver. I did not job hop, I just bought my own damn truck. Sp now I have an old US Express truck turned up to 85 mph and 525 horses. Get out in the wide open and leave the left lane open cause here I come. But in defense of the companies... I have seen way too many wrecks on straight highways in 55 mph speed zones. so I can see their point to not let some bozo driver go 90mph doin the hwy

I agree. Even local around the metroplex, there are too many accidents involving big rigs for my taste.

I think the most important thing is whether you are making a decent living. You need to get some more experience before you worry too much about going faster. Don't sweat the little stuff. A governed truck is the little stuff. If I were you, I would just stick it out. If you keep moving around you will find doors closing at the better companies. I won't hire a driver with more than 3 jobs in 2 years. And that is marginal. More companies are looking at job hopping and not hiring them. A few months ago I talked to a driver who checked out find and he had 12 years of experience. Then I found out he had 10 jobs in 2 years. If he had only had 3 I would probably have hired him. He tried to blame faulty equipment at all of his previous employers, but I didn't buy it. This guy has trouble dealing with things and if he doesn't get his way, then he is out the door. You aren't going to get everything your way. Life simply doesn't work that way. If you continue to move around, people will begin to look at you the same way as I did this guy.

I was curious if anyone knows of decent companies that you can go to with 6 months experience that the trucks arent goverened at 65... so far been with swift , may, and now knight... so far knight is the best but im sick of EVERY ONE and i do mean EVERYONE passing me. is there any decent ones to run that arent so dang slow.. I live in salt lake city ut.

You may have already shut the door on a "faster" company. I too HATE the 65mph limit, but quit because of it? Never. Be very cautious on moving again. 3 in 6 already prohibits you from coming to TMC, hopefully the next company you choose (if accepted) will be what you are looking for.

My truck is not governed at all. I never go over 65. I drive about the speed of traffic, but if other guys are passing me, that's fine....let 'em. There are probably a lot of trucks who are not passing me but I don't see them because they are behind me driving at a sane speed.

I used to speed on my motorcycle ... with tires rated for twice the speed I was doing.

To think to do too much over 65 with recaps ... the centrifugal forces will tear them app art.

Besides ... the stress of driving at a higher rate of speed is not proportional to the possible earnings, nor for the driver neither for the machine.
