I WILL RETIRE FROM JB HUNT AND AT RETIREMENT BECOME A MULTI-MILLIONAIRE BECAUSE OF THEIR 401K. HEALTH INSURANCE IS TOP NOTCH. I WORK FOR THEIR DEDICATED PPG ACCOUNT AND COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. THE REASON THAT SOME MANY PEOPLE LEAVE ORIENTATION IS NOT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT LIKE THE COMPANY, BUT BECAUSE THEY CANNOT PASS THE PHYSICAL DRUG TEST, AND THE COMPLETE BACKROUND CHECK THEY DO ON EACH DRIVER. THE ONES YOU HEAR BITCHING ABOUT MILES ARE THE ONES YOU SEE IN THE TRUCK STOPS CONSTANTLY BITCHING. IF THEY WOULD DRIVE INSTEAD OF SITTING IN TRUCK STOPS ALL DAY THERE MILES WOULD BE FINE.
Benefits are best in the industry ? Really ? News to me .

    Pension ? No
    401k ? Yes
    Personal Days ? No
    Sick Days ? No
    Paid Vacation ? Yes
Up to 6 weeks vacation ? No
No weekly cost Medical/Dental for single or family ? No
    Paid Holidays ? Yes

Where I work it's a yes to all . Is JB a good company ? Yes . Are they the best ? No . and do they have the best benefits ? No
I don't think it's fair to compare an OTR company to a local LTL company. Should OTR's have those same benefits? Hell yes! But it's like comparing apples to oranges.

You know, after reading this post, I wanted to find others who feel good about JB Hunt. Not to offer any comment, just to find them. And I found this one, dated 8.03.2006:

    JB Hunt - Lowell, Ar.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I been reading all the posts about J.B and can't find any truth to the bad reports. Like all companies they have good and bad points, but the most important thing is they work with the drivers. I never had to wait for a pay, worries if it was short, or miles. I found once you prove you are able to do 3000 miles on time, legal, and most of all safely then you make the money. At $.40 per mile that is not that much to ask in return, and they got me home every time I asked too.

Then, just 15 days later, I see this one....:

    Saw the J.B. Colors

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I am a rookie and trusted the company. I refused to drive passed my 14th hour and was ordered to or else. Well I stood my ground and J.B. ended up terminating me for refusing a supervisor. What a ************ company.
And this has lead me to beleive one thing. Your opionion about JB Hunt may change just by waiting long enough.

So my question is this....is your support for JB just there as long as you are? Or will time change your mind as well?

Here is the site for this post:

Re: JB Hunt - Lowell, Ar.

People can work for any company(JB,Swift, ect)and find good and bad with them. But the point is what`s good treatment to one driver ,another my feel the other way.I worked 91/2 yrs with JB.The first 2-3yrs were great because I was treated well and had an ex driver as a boss.He knew what it was like to be out on the road, then have problems arise at home.Or to make sure your pay was right for the miles you ran.But then a change came at JB,and the old man, wife, and even the son didn`t have a day to day handle on things,Thompson,Garrasion, and Harper took control .Those good dispatchers, and project mgrs that were ex drivers started disapearing.Only to be replaced with college grads with degrees in underwater basket weaving.Gone were the people who know what it was like to be in Pa.and have a home emergency in Fl.You need to get back in a hurry, not get a load to Ca.,or Nv.Use to you could go into any JB shop and get your truck fixed, but now they say you have to wait till you get back home and time for your PM.Times have changed, and so have companies. All you can do is find one where you think you`ll be happy and try it out.
This come from the same posting as before, just on page 7.

Even though I was the recruiter you spoke to, and I would have loved to make money by hiring you. You are right....why leave a job you are happy at for something else that you wouldnt be sure of? Like I told you on the phone, I really couldnt tell you more about the job out of utah because I had never put a driver on it before out of utah. However after you declined I did get a driver on it and hes now on that job. In a few months I will let you know how he liked it and more details about it.
Good luck and if things ever turn sour over at Knight give me a call again.
