Don't feel bad. I had the same problem with Maverick AND TMC.
That's part of the reason why I made the move to Arrow.

I finally was notified today that I am to report to Little Rock on Monday Jan 15th. I will go through a physical, agility test, drug screen, etc. I was beggining to wonder if it would ever come, but am now ready to start. Hope everything goes well with the tests, I hear they find things that people didn't even know they had. I am ready to get going. May be awhile before I get back on here, but I will keep everyone posted on what's going on. Best of luck to everyone out there, talk to you guys soon. 8) 8) 8)

gsherm look at another post earlier in this thread, a driver named Arky made a list of some of his latest runs and I do believe Terre Haute was on that list. Good luck to you!

I'm going to hire on with Maverick and I have a question for you? Do they run through Terre Haute In. very often? I live about 20 miles South and was wondering if there is alot of running along I-70...Thanks.
For a while I thought I might as well move to Brazil, IN. I was running that route so much that the AmBest truckstop in Brazil was my home away from home. I would have to say you couldn't be located in a better place.

    Good Luck,

    Arky

Appreciate it Arky! Did you get your CDL through Newport? If so how did the process go?

Look forward to meeting you, and other Maverick drivers, out there some where on the road. Stay safe.

I am looking forward to getting started with the training but really looking forward to getting a truck and getting on the road. I was told by the recruiter that drivers in the southeast region average between 2300 to 2500 miles per week, and was wondering if any of the current Maverick drivers can confirm this. I would also like any other information on benefits that are available. This site has been very informative and has played a huge role in making Maverick my choice 8)
I was going to go with Maverick. But they kept stringing me out on the start date for school. I had applied back in August and they said the waiting list was three months. As of last week I was told February. A few weeks ago I got the ball rolling with TMC and I'm glad I did. Their recruiters were much better in returning calls and emails and seemed genuinely interested in me than Maverick. I felt like a number with Maverick. I'm sure Maverick is a fine company, but the more research I did the more I started to lean towards TMC. In the span of couple of weeks I am due to start sponsored CDL school at the end of this month. Yeah!!!!
I had exactly the same experience. Well, sort of.

I've got 25 years experience taking notes and listening to verbal operations orders. I had three pages of notes after talking to a Maverick recruiter. She summarized our conversation in two sentences. (I know. Her boss read them over the phone to me.)

Her recollection of our conversation was totally wrong. The issue was over what documentation I had agreed to provide.

Minor issue . . . communications problems happen . . . but when I corrected her recollection of events, the old battleaxe flipped, accused me of having "a bad attitude" and of "being someone who probably wouldn't be able to get along with dispatchers . . . since I couldn't even get along with the recruiters."

So screw her, right? Just get another recruiter to work with? Well, it got worse. I found out from her boss that they weren't hiring anybody from Texas at the moment (this was back in early November).

This was after she had told me, (and I had told my business partner) that my school date would be in early January.

So, I think Maverick is probably a good company. Many people I've written to seem happy with them. But there is a problem in the Human Resource area . . . specifically recruiting and training of new drivers. I suspect it has to do with too quick an expansion . . . like someone has come up with new recruiting policies and incentives and the old war-horses who have been there for years haven't caught on yet.

Now . . . I challenge anybody to detail the same sort of experience with TMC. If you've had one, I'd love to hear the details . . . in private if you wish.

Of the two companies, the HR side of TMC seems to be much more professional, responsive and better organized.

To me that says better leadership and better management.

So for anyone trying to compare the two: These two companies are similar . . . but they are not the same.

And don't any of you TMC fans think I am giving them a bad rap, I am just saying that it is funny the way there is a different match for different people and the experience that one person has is not necessarily the same as another. Makes you wonder why  :?:

Several of these stories (TMC/Maverick hiring stories) have circulated in the recent past. I had my own experience with them as well. Do a search and you will get more details than you will want.

im one of the talked to both and the one who gave me the time of day, I went with. (if you want to know, refer to picture lol). I left messages with TMC, never got called back. Maverick called me back within 2 hrs. I honestly think it varies from the recruiters themselves and not necessarily the company as a whole. I dont know how many Mavericks convert to TMC, but I know of at least 8 converts from TMC to Mav. The guys I did get the chance to ask why they left, they said it was because they were only paid percentage and they had to deadhead a lot to get the next load and didnt get a dime for their hours of driving. Another said he left partly because of that but he also said something to the effect that TMC took money out of his checks for being out of route a cetain percentage. It was something to that effect but dont quote me on that. You know, I havent been on the other side of the fence, so I honestly dont know what color the grass is. But I am happy here and so I guess I dont need to know. BOL
