Wondering about this company, any pros or cons. The benefits package looks good.

I'm not really qualified to answer this question, as I've never driven for them and my experience is old.
I worked in the scheduling department (making appointments for the drivers) for about 6 months, almost 10 years ago. The drivers I spoke with then were happy. I hope somebody here knows more about them.

hey there i just joined up with ryder transportation so far so good. Much more of a relaxed atmosphere than at my previous employer. Benefits are good. Home every day(supply chain driver). Could use newer tractors but i can manage.

    Default Ryder...

I worked part time for RIL (Ryder Integrated Logistics) for a long time up until 2000. Worked on the GM, Mazda and Target accounts. NICE, very driver friendly people, company policy 5 on/2 off, excellent equipment, paid for everything (hourly+mileage), made a lot of money on the 401K, Ryder matches you 50%. When I retire from UPS, I'll probably still work for them part time. They are very flexible. If you don't like the account you are on, you can switch to another that suits you better. Some of the best maintained equipment I've ever driven (thank you Santa Fe Springs Ryder !) and just nice people. You just show up, do the best job you can and they leave you alone and pay you well. NO driving over hours etc., it's just not tolerated. Every thing's legal and totally above board. If you leave on a good basis, you are always welcome back.

Thanks for the input, I got the job with Ryder but some of it sounded almost too good to be true after what I've heard about some of the other companies. I've been an owner operator for 17 years pulling mobile homes, am ready for somebody else to pay my bills for awhile

You won't go wrong. Post back after a few months and let us know how it goes. I'm betting that you will be pretty happy. The medical/dental is excellent too, I forgot to mention.

I worked for them back in the early 90's.

They always treated me very good, and some of the guys I worked with back then are still there. That says allot right there.

    Fred,

Is that the one on Imperial Hwy?

my husband just applied for a local job with ryder, but he recently had a preventable accident with his last employer and lost his job last week as a result. he was with the company for only five months. he got that job right after getting his CDL-A and was doing great until the accident. he has some tractor-trailer driving experience when he was in the Air Force back in the early 90's, but that's it.

do you think he'd have a chance with a company like ryder? i'm concerned this accident is going to completely screw him up.
