Can anyone give me the inside (or out) scoop about Crete? I can see that their pay is pretty darn good...any other insight?

Well, I signed on with them about three months ago and have been very happy. I get a solid 3000+ miles every week. When I request home time I get home(they have even deadheaded my 200 miles to get me home), although I tend to stay out for 4+weeks at a time. When I make a delivery I am sent another load in a very short period of time. Usually 10-15 mins or less. I have never waited for more that 45 mins to get another run. I am given plenty of time to make deliveries and am never pushed for time. They pay detention after two hour, at least thats the rumor, I've never been at a shipper or reciever long enough to find out. Here's the sweat part, a large number of the loads are drop and hook, somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-70%. If you can't run it legal, all you have to do is send a message and its a done deal. NO pressure from dispatch. There have been no payroll issues. They don't try to nickle and dime me. Heath insurance is very reasonable and available after 2 months. Many other companies make you wait 3. The equipment is late model and well maintain, however the trucks are defiantly of the no frills school of thought. They use the saved money to give you a bigger paycheck. The company is privately owned and pays cash for everything(no debt). As far as logging, there are very few shortcuts. You must log it as you run it with a 15 min window. If your a maverick kind of driver(which I used to be), this isn't the place for you. Inconvenient at times, but it's nice not to have to worry about what chicken coops are open. Not to mention, less likely to spend 20 years in prison if the unthinkable happens and your suppose to be in a different state at the time.
If you do sign on as an experienced driver, they will get you a rental car which you drive to the nearest terminal. A hotel will be provided for a couple of nights. Once there they will have you do the standard pee test and physical on day one. Day 2 is paper work, pointless videos and truck assignment and wait for urine/drug results(there is no pay for these days). Once everything is a go you will be sent out on the road and start making money right of the bat. They will route you thru Marietta, GA or Lincoln, NE for a 2 day orientation ($140 total pay) and then send you back out. I was out for one week B4 orientation, but there was a driver there who had been out for 3weeks. Luck of the draw kind of thing I guess.
All in all, the best company I've been with. PM me if you have any specific questions.
Their trucks are RED ,and their trailers are white with a red line on the side ,and 3 RED CCC's on the left door of the trailer .
Evertruckerr and I both have been with them for 3 months and our experiences are very similar. I started with a supposedly "good" company that alot of people on here recommended - roehl. Have you heard of them? They suck. Anyways, I moved on, I make double the $ I did at Roehl, I haul the same freight. Feels good to see roehl trucks at the same place I'm picking up/delivering at and knowing I'm getting paid 8 cents more per mile.
Me too, lots of miles. Although this week isnt looking very good at all! :sad:Originally Posted by evertruckerr

The trucks are very spartan to put it mildly. If you want a nice truck go drive for werner and make .26 CPMOriginally Posted by evertruckerr

Yeah don't play games with your log book. Since the Florida accident the safety dept. says "Homie don't play dat!" on the flip side of that you'll get bonus points for having a perfect log audit. My point standing is at -4 now.Originally Posted by evertruckerr
Take the orientation pay on your first paycheck and not on your comdata card unless you wanna pay an extra $15 processing fee. Payroll didn't tell me that :evil:Originally Posted by evertruckerr
I agree much better than my first company. Feel free to PM me also.Originally Posted by evertruckerr

I've been driving for Crete going on seven months now and have been very content. I have good benefits, get plenty of LEGAL miles and am paid well for them, I get home when I want/need to and I just got a brand new truck a month ago. I did my homework before hiring on with Crete and IMO you'd be hard pressed to find a better all around company for running OTR. It's not perfect here, but then that job doesn't exist. Well, I suppose trying to spend the $100 Million in lottery winnings if I won would be closer to perfect, but I haven't gotten that job yet. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions and I'll do my best to get you an accurate answer. Good luck!![]()
