Excellent equipment, spec'd like an owner op with great inverter and refrigerator.
MUST CHAIN UP in snow. This makes sense considering they are based out of the NW.
Good miles usually. Good pay!
They are suffering growing pains so there is a lot of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.
Some of the team dispatchers can be real rough to deal with.
Great terminals (the newer ones that is). Big screen televisions, work out rooms, big showers.
You can check out company car for 2 hours to do shopping, etc. when at a terminal.
If you think you can or you think you can't, either way you are right!
Doesn't matter where you have been, it's where you are going in life that counts!
I agree with movinit except for one point and thats chaining if you tell them it is unsafe you don't have to chain. It was also left out that the trucks are automatics which can have its pluses. The insurance pkg. is or was great when we worked there only problem is the LI is out of Oregon so if you are ever injured like my hubby was it is hard to find a doctor who will accept the L and I insurance. We made a large amount of money teaming at Interstate and would still be there if it weren't for hubbies injury.
England and Interstate seem to have the worst driving habits on the road. Either speeding down the road or cutting you off on the 5. Nice trucks, but who want's to drive a paddle shift or auto? Women I guess haha![]()
I was an owner-operator with them for about 1 1/2 years. My biggest grip was condition of the trailers. Being mostly drop and hook no one took care of them.
When I refused to pull a trailer with bad brakes they just gave it to a company truck to haul. Then let me sit for 10 days.
Company trucks look nice but the drivers seem to be breaking down all the time.
Now if it were not for the poor trailers I might have stayed.
Kind of like who really wants to drive a really light blue truck.... Queers I guess. haha
I didn't post this originally. However, I plan to begin working for Interstate after I graduate from driving school in the middle of February. I was disappointed there weren't more hits. So, I thought I would dredge it up and see if it would get some more posts.
There were a couple posts from team drivers. I was more interested in those who knew about their solo program.
Hey Rookie, the last I heard you had to have 6 mos. exp to apply with IDC. If this requirement has changed? I would really be interested in knowing.
They HAVE dropped the 6 month requirement. They ARE hiring drivers right out of school. In fact, I submitted an application and received a Letter of Intent to Hire and I don't even start school until January 15th.
BOL to you!

BOL to ya! Just don't take my job!
I just spoke with Steve in recruiting at IDC. He told me that If you are in school, they do have a program that they can enroll you in to get new driver's up to speed with there company.
If you have local experience only, and no schooling. They won't accept your application until you get 6months OTR experience.
This is true. My man just talked with them today and they are strict regarding length of experience if you're not in school. If you have local experience you need one year, OTR (regional, etc) - 6 months.
Sorry if I provided conflicting information. I had no idea about their requirement other than Driver Trainees. Up until a month or so ago, they were not taking people right out of school. You had to have 6 months experience to even apply with them. Since I will be attending school and heard of their change, I contacted them and they accepted my application. They also sent me a Letter of Intent to Hire.
I guess I misunderstood the original question or applied my situation to someone else's.
I am sorry for the confusion.
can you handle being around nasty talking truck drivers ?
Like I said in another thread. I've been working in prisons for the past 25 years. Don't worry bout me. I can hold my own!
I guess its not the lot lizzards I need to watch out for!!!
Its a good company to work for, We have been teaming with IDC for almost 3 years now, we have a great fleet manager and we get plenty of miles( 5000 minimum per week- average is 6000+), sometimes 7000 )you should see take home pay on a 8000 mile week thats a real trip, every thursday I look at my net pay and say NICE!!, seriously. We dont dread going back out to work once we have been home, we know it will be a good 5 or 6 week trip(our choice to stay out so long).chaining isnt alot of fun but mostly because of the some of the inconsiderate drivers that fly past you while you are chaining. go for it and welcome to the company, just look for us - we'll be waving as we go by--- Song
Now there's some good news!
