Okay here's the deal i just got laidoff so no money to go to cdl school.
So i need a company to hire me and send me to school.
Does anyone have any info on schneider that's who i'm leaning towards.
They have a cdl school where i live in nc and they talk a good game ,
any info would be appreciated.

if you just got laid off

go to the unemployment office and apply for the wia fed retraining program

or the state sep program

they will pick up the entire nickel for your truck school

plus pay for the cost of the cdl test and license

and they will pay for some required equipment

boots,gloves,4 pound hammer ,vise grips , c b radio

I believe you are talking about Maverick Specialized LLC, Laurinburg, NC.
They just bought the glass division from Schneider. I just went through their program. I obtained my CDL before hand though. There were alot of guys who went through the Schneider School in WI, and then were sent to Maverick. It was part of the buy out. Scheider had to provide Maverick with so many drivers. They do talk a good game and they are about 85% correct. I really enjoy the company so far.

no, Schneider still has a training Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina. So there's a good chance that he was not talking about Maverick, though I have heard good things about Maverick. I went to Schneider school in Green Bay, because that was closer to my home. And I have been very happy with them. The pay is nothing special though it is reasonably competitive if you are interested in teaming the benefits are decent but not great. And it is a big company, so sometimes you have to speak up if you want to get noticed on the other hand attractors are late-model and well maintained, and there are lots of clean well-maintained operating centers with free showers and free laundry. I want to the Schneider is necessarily where I want to be for the rest of my trucking career, but it has been a very good place to start and I would recommend it to anyone (as long as they don't get stuck with the 18 month contract from Dallas).

Not a bad place to get your feet wet. I've heard they don't dispatch their training trucks as teams which (if true) is a plus. Downside is the pay is kinda low and the bennies suck. Plus they pay HHG vs other fleets that pay Practical miles for their drivers (Roehl, CFI, Crete, Gordon, and a few others pay Practical).

Do a year or two then move on to greener pastures.
