Read this in my local paper yesterday and must admit I'm tempted to say the least. Being home daily with with friends and family would be a different lifestyle than OTR, but I do believe I just may be able to adjust to such a change. Anyway, I know it's a good driving gig. I'd just like to get any additional info, good or bad, from someone who works/worked for them. Thanks

Fed-ex drivers are well paid drivers. Never met an unhappy Fed-ex road driver.

take the job, you can always go back to OTR if you don't like fed ex. I know several who work for them and they are very happpy and very well compensated. It is a rare opportunity to get hired into linehaul off the street. Take the opportunity.

It can, yes. Once you stay long enough to get off of the extra board at Fed Ex,you can make a really good living. One of the guys that worked with us went to Fed Ex. It took him over a year to get hired on there. He has been there for about 8 months, and he is still on the extra board. I usually see him when both of us are driving at night, and the last time I talked to him,he said that he should be moving up pretty soon.

You time on the extra board at any LTL is going to suck.

From what I've seen and heard FedEx freight is a good outfit. I joke that we are on the exchange program as two of our supervisors used to work there and several of our P&D drivers have migrated over.

    I'd go for it.

My husband was looking to get on with FedEx. Where do you think he could find hiring information for our area? We live in Washington State. Will they hire solo drivers? Thank you.

Thanks to everyone who posted a reply. It turns out what they actually want is someone with two years experience pulling doubles. I was quick to point out that the ad in the paper does NOT say that. After a brief, uncomfortable silence on the other end of the line, I was told they're more than happy to accept my application. I'm sure they'd want to hire me now.

I would suggest going to http://www.fedex.com and signing up there. I'm pretty sure you can then create a job search agent that will email you when anything that meets your parameters is posted. Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!
