At 5.85 avg mpg with 23% idle they have to find some way to keep the fuel mileage up. My truck does 67. That's because I get 2 mph as part of the CAT rewards program on the computer in the dash. Which unfortunately they are taking away from the drivers.Luckily for me I don't ever see a terminal to get this done. :P But I have to get the overhead done soon. At 77,000 miles I'm slight past due on that. (not my fault
)
I actually have a higher fule mileage then most of the other Texas drivers that I have talked to. I got a brand new truck in April with the pre '07 engine. It's gotten better mpg since the ULSD came out.
Did you know that the Peterbuild bug screen on the nose lowers mpg by .2mpg? I had a bird commit suicide on mine and I constantly keep track of mpg per fill up. 5.75 w/bug sheild 5.95 w/o bugsheild.

I remember the old KTL T800's supposedly being ungoverned and able to blow the doors off the new TMC FTL Centuries. My T8 never got over 67. It's been a while since I ran the northeast, but from what I remember, most of the area is strictly 65, give or take 5. Out here (TX, NM, CO, OK turnpikes), speedlimits are more in the 70 to 75 range. I hate running 65 in a 75, and most guys are running 80. I just wish TMC would turn up the governors a bit so I could run the speed limit. Most of the time I don't run over 70 anyway, and 65 if I've got a leisurely run. Mostly for fuel milage, but also for safety. 70+ is great though, for passing, but for the most part I don't use it. Just wastes too much fuel, and increases the risk of a serious accident.
