    Default Anyone work/know about PassMore....flatbed

    Hey guys and gals,

I am looking at going to work for A Passmore out of Ok. They seem to have a good program for a newbie. I know flatbed is not for the new guys. I'm capable of the job, just wondering if anyone knows anything about them good or bad. Have searched and could not find any info on them.

    Thanks for your help!!

Their website states that you need 3 yrs OTR experience plus 6 mos flatbed experience. Doesn't sound like a newbie company to me unless they have changed their requirements.

They are hiring students, Jim Passmore does not own the company no more he is the general manager, sold out to Prime a few months back. So yes they are hiring more students then they ever have. It's Prime Time at Passmore. Good Luck, might be a place to start and get the experince and move on and up.

while i was at TMC, i ran into and with Passmore drivers all the time. the two companies load at a lot of the same places. all the drivers seemed pretty content. the trucks will run and i think they have pikepass and prepass. so no tolls. I have applied and 10-15 minutes later they called me back so i may be starting with them next week.

Yeah, I also applied and the lady called me back pretty quick asking if I could start on Monday. She still has to check everything out though. Not sure if my straight trucking over the past couple of years will hurt my chances of getting hired, but both ladies I talked to didn't make a big deal about it so who knows? Still waiting for her to call me back.

What, maybe faster then what you are driving now, but I wouldn't say 68 on the foot and 70 on the cruise is a truck that will run. And the top two gears on the 9 speed are automatic, they shift when the computer tells it to not when you want to. But it gets good fuel mileage that way but you are kinda like Swift in traffic except your in a big Peter Car.

Was hired today. Start orientation Monday, in a truck by Wednesday, home on Friday. Good enough. I hate being rushed though. I really didn't even know much about Passmore before all this. At least I can finally get rolling again instead of waiting God-only-knows how many weeks before Maverick gets back to me. I know they loaded and delivered at a lot of the same places I went to with TMC. Really nice equipment and drivers that seem to have a clue. I'm leary of small companies as I've been screwed over more than once. I'm looking forward to it though. We'll see how it turns out. 8)

Well, they got big CAT's in 'em. Maybe they'll run a bit. Don't know if they're governed. Don't guess it really matters too much as I don't want another ticket any time soon. I want to keep my nose clean. Hopefully they can pull up them d*mn hills a little better than those 60-series Detroits.

Used to work for them, Jim Passmore is a pretty good guy and the equipment is really up to par. Not all their trucks are 9 autos, they had some that were 13 speeds, but these were mainly used in the Colorado fleet for the Gypsum account. Of course not working for them anymore, can't say if they still have any left in the fleet. Before Prime bought them, they use to trade their trucks in at 300,000. They run Cat 475's, I can't remember what they were governed at.

Passmore is a good company. They treat their drivers good, and good equipment that actually runs. Ive never seen a Passmore Pete that ran under 70. Ive had Passmore trucks blow my doors off just as fast as any cowtruck. They have kitty cats that range anywhere from 475 horses,to 550 horses. One thing about them, being a mostly south western carrier, they get their drivers home on a weekly basis. I don't know what is going to happen in the near future being that they emerged with Prime. I talked to one of the guys on the radio night before last. He said that he has been with Passmore for 10 years, and he hasn't ever had a problem. He told me that they will get Prime's benefits. He told me that as long as they don't slow down the trucks,or take away their Petes,or keep him out months at a time,he will stay. He also mentioned that Passmore may be pulling reefers, and dry vans. That wouldn't look right,Passmore pulling reefers, vans. :P

Okay, finally got home. Hopped on the Greyhound last Sunday, road all day from Sulphur Springs (NE Texas) to Vernon (NW Texas), then a cab ride to Altus (about 35 miles from Vernon). Long day! Me and another Passmore driver were on the same bus from Dallas, but didn't realize it until we reached Vernon and we were the only ones that got off and hopped into the cab to Altus. I was going to just drive my pickup as I thought I'd be in a trainer's truck for a week or two, but the bossman said I'd be in my truck by Wednesday, so I had to relent and take that d*mned bus!

Did the usual gig of sharing a motel room with another driver, a couple of days in orientation, listening to stuff I've already heard before. Second day we all went out and picked out our trucks. Never heard of such a thing and bossman said he normally just had the noobs draw straws, but he let us choose the ones we wanted. They're all the same anyway. 379's, C-15's, 9-speed trannies (yes, NINE!?, huh?). Some had more smoke odor than others. Some had classic interiors, some with the newer style. I chose one of the older style with the chrome guages and faux wood dash. Don't care much for the newer style. Oldest trucks are '05's with less than 200,000 miles. That's what we all got.

Anyway, same old running as what I expected. Picked up a load of drywall in Duke, OK to deliver in Austin. Easy run. Couldn't believe they actually tarped the load for me! Just had to bungee and strap. Broke down in rush hour in downtown Austin Thursday morning. A little rubber coolant line was old and rotted and was leaking coolant. I could crush it with two fingers and have coolant running down my hand. Broke down at 7:00am and didn't get going again until 2:00pm. No big deal. That's truckin'. Sat in Austin til about 4:00pm and figured I might as well give up on a load and prop up my feet a while. Just then a load popped up, picking up aluminum billet at Alcoa in Rockdale, TX the next morning and delivering to Texarkana Saturday morning. Heading right through the house. Good enough. Terrible miles, but, ya know... whatever. Next week will be better. Sounds decent so far, but we'll see how she goes. Later! 8)

I was expecting to see you this past week, but when Curtis (maintenance boss) was asking where each one of us from (there were 7 of us, two were returning drivers), no one answered "China Spring".

I'm in truck #474 in case we ever meet up. Let me know how it goes up there!

Oh yeah. Of course it's the first week and they may just be trying to make me feel good. I don't know yet. My dispatcher said there's plenty of freight up my way, and there's several other drivers that live in this same area and get home weekly. But then again, dispatchers will tell you anything you want to hear. I got a good attitude and I'll just see how it goes. 8)
