I only did it once with TMC. Delivered in Lafayette early one morning just before Christmas. I think it was the 23rd. Waited all d*mned day for a load. Finally, that evening, dispatch said "take it to the house". Bounced all the way. Not sure of the milage, but it's a pretty decent trip from south-central Louisiana to north-east Texas. This week I loaded up in Duke, OK to deliver in Austin. Brokedown in Austin early Thursday which screwed everything up. Finally delivered Thursday afternoon and sat for a couple of hours. Dispatch sent me to Rockdale (Alcoa) to pick up a load Friday morning, delivering Saturday morning to Alcoa in Texarkana, about 100 miles from the house. Took the load home yesterday, delivered this morning, then bounced back to the house. Took the lady with me since it was a Saturday. Still need to fax in that passenger permit! We both enjoyed it and it's been a fun day. Hopefully, next week I can get in some good miles. 8)

I have a very nice Pete sittin' in the driveway! Just need to get a good kingpin lock for that lonely trailer! D*mn, it feels good to be flatbeddin' again! 8)

They will run a bit. I haven't mashed it all the way down yet as I'd like to keep my nose clean for a while, but they'll get up and go. Fastest I've managed so far is 75, but I'm running east and central Texas, not the OK toll roads. Wayne said they're governed at 68 and can be increased with fuel bonuses, but mine apparently isn't governed too much. Fastest truck I've ever driven did about 77 and I'd use all of it on the interstates. At TMC I was always stuck at 65, so 75 ain't bad. And they do have PikePass and PrePass. Haven't used either so far. I heard one re-hire saying he never used PrePass as it allowed the DOT to track his whereabouts, but who knows? I don't care much about being a "cowboy". Supposedly they also pay and reimburse for all toll roads, everywhere.

i got a letter from tmc today saying that my tolls were not authorized but they only bothered to send 2 receipts back instead of all of them. i guess we are still playing games.

well been here for about a week now. not too bad. my truck is pretty decent. not TMC quality but it makes money. they do run you hard if thats what you want. only problem i have is that they dont like the phone calls to dispatch. at least my dispatcher doesnt. so you loose the personal qualities that a small company should have.

I guess it depends on the dispatcher. Mine (Randy McClain) told me right up front to call him anytime and don't worry about the Qualcomm. I call him for important things, but Qualcomm the rest of the time. I've found myself on the phone alot more with Passmore than TMC. Dispatch doesn't send directions to customers by default so you have to request them. There's a macro you can use to request dirs, but it shoots really crappy computer-generated dirs to you that will just wind up getting you lost. I quit using it after the first couple of days. Now I'll either request the "old" dirs from Randy or call the customer myself. The "old" dirs are from drivers who've been to the location before so they actually make sense. I'm compiling a rolodex of directions so I'll always have them in the future.

So much for every weekend at home. Got hung out last weekend. I didn't raise a fuss about. Randy just said "things are slow". Yeah, and I just crawled out from under a cabbage leaf the night before. Had to shut her down week before last in northern NM when the blizzard shut the roads down in Colorado. Made me very late for that Friday delivery and that could've been what screwed me up. Got in some good miles this past week though. Hauled an 800-mile load from Rifle, CO to KC, MO, then from Blue Rapids, KS to Charlotte, NC and finally from Wilmington, NC to Dallas, TX for Friday delivery. Bounced to the GP in Quanah (Acme) for a preload and then to the house for delivery Monday in Texarkana. Got a few miles from the plant when I got sent a message to come to the yard in Altus to swap loads with another driver that needed to get home and then bounce to AG in Duke to pick up a load going to Frisco (north Dallas, about an hour and a half from the house). Believe me, I was pizzed since I was already loaded and headed home, but I still got home anyway, though a few hours later than expected.

Like I said earlier, I'm going to give it a while. You can't tell anything from the first couple of weeks. I want to give it at least two or three months. I hate job hopping so I'm not going to quit because they pizz me off every now and then. So far I haven't sat still much. But if Randy keeps screwing over my hometime, well... I don't know. I'm new here and I gotta take my lumps and prove they can't make me quit. But, yeah, so far I'm happy. Glad to be on the road again and flatbeddin'! 8)
