Do a search on here. You will not find too many good things about them. I have never personally worked for them so I can not say if all the scuttle butt is true or not. BOL

RUN!!! Don't WALK from your friendly, neigborhood CR England recruiter!!! I had a buddy who pulled for em' and lived to regret it. His crack-the-whip, Captain Ahab dispatcher never got him home and would constantly hound him as to why he needed to hire a lumper. His paystubs never added up right and England corporate would pimp their ripoff fleece-purchase program on him every chance they could. The last straw came when they gave him a NYC "hot-load" when he was promised hometime on Xmas day. He said "F That!" and dead-headed all the way back to Salt Lake City and had his wife come pick him up at the yard. England turned around and slammed his DAC and tried fining him for all sorts of petty crap.

Avoid CR England like the plague!!

Other than the lease-purchase part (which didn't exist when I drove for those morons) this was my experience as well.

Deadheading back was dumb on his part, but understandable.

Drop your pants and bend over if you work for that bunch of cretins.

My brother drivers for CRE and up until this last week has been very happy with them and the miles..........he's average around $1,100 net per week since he started his 6 month lease. He was happy enough to consider another 6 month lease...........that is until this week.

Wednesday he checked his bank account and saw that CRE had only paid on 1 of 4 trip pack that were in on time for this week's pay period. The smallest of the 4 on top of that.............when he checked on the deal, he was told that his lease ended next Monday and that he would have to be cashed out of this lease before he could sign the next lease.........meaning that they were holding all monies due him for 45 days to allow time for any bills to be processed................he told them fine, per the contract you hold the reserve funds, but the trip packs weren't part of the reserve funds and should be paid . Their excuse for holding the trip packs was that they wanted to be sure there was enough money available to pay any outstanding bills. His lawyer filed suit today, charging breach of contract, fraud and grand theft......we'll see what happens.

Not 5 minutes after he got off the phone concerning the missing pay........the leasing agent called wanting to know which truck he wanted for the new lease, so they could have it ready on Monday when he got back into SLC to sign the new lease. He couldn't believe it. He told them he had changed his mind and that instead of the 6 month lease he was going with the 3 year lease and wanted the top of the line. When it comes time to sign the new lease..........he'll tell em where to put the lease and the new truck. His wife is meeting him in SLC on Monday in their Expedition to pick him and his gear up............a weeks vacation in Jackson Hole and then back to Denver to shop for a new truck as an O/O leased to the very client he covered as a CRE L/O........................
pain and heartaches aren't options in this life... misery is a choice.

I still scratch my head on that one.

A large corps of recruiters and lots of advertising. To the financially illiterate getting .90cpm vs the .26 they pay as a company driver looks great. The apparently illegal lack of disclosures on all of the chargebacks and deductions makes it look doable.

One of the guys who just graduated from the in house CDL school at my terminal just quit to go work for them! In one fell swoop he has gone from whats possibly the best job open to a green driver (41.5 cpm & 17.65/hr) to a princely .26cpm and $0 hr for all the time he will spend at shippers and receivers.

    Yes they do.

I almost just went with the first company I talked to. I am so glad I went to the massage boards. I feel alot more informed. Get some info from people who know. Granted there is a lot bs to sift through but if some homework and research is done you can learn many things.

SPECIAL REPORT: Trial against C.R. England concludes

Oct. 25, 2006 – Both sides have finished presenting evidence and testimony in a federal class-action lawsuit that pitted truckers against the mega-carrier C.R. England.

Courtroom action wrapped up Wednesday, Oct. 25, in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City. Attorneys for both sides now must wait for written transcripts to be prepared before they can write and submit their post-trial briefs.

Paul Cullen Sr. of The Cullen Law Firm said Wednesday that the final post-trial briefs are due by the end of January 2007 and that the case will then be in the hands of Judge Ted Stewart. There is no jury because the truckers’ legal team opted for a bench trial after Stewart issued favorable rulings in pretrial orders Oct. 3.

About 6,000 truckers are included in the class action, which the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association filed, alleging that C.R. England violated federal truth-in-leasing regulations by failing to disclose chargebacks.

Specifically, the truckers’ case contends that the motor carrier made millions in illegal profits by failing to disclose markups and chargebacks on goods and services that it deducted from truckers’ settlement sheets.

The class action includes any owners or operators who had lease agreements with C.R. England beginning in August 1998 and continuing through the end of the trial.

According to the motor carrier’s Web site, C.R. England currently has more than 3,800 drivers and independent contractors hauling freight.

Truckers testified last week that tires and other parts were marked up 30 percent by the motor carrier. The truckers contend the carrier also failed to disclose information about fuel discounts.

“In the case of C.R. England, they profited to the tune of millions of dollars by their fuel chargeback practices in which they retained 60 percent of the discounts that were generated by owner-operator fuel purchases,” said David A. Cohen of The Cullen Law Firm.
