I wanted to drive for them. I hear they are a very very good company. We are talking about the maroon trucks out of NJ right.

My father has worked for them for 3 years, 2 OTR and 1 year local in New England. Just transferred to Tuckload Division out of Martinsburg WV. Excellent company and benefits...lot of former Jevic personnel that went with Harry are with both Divisions. Truckload division pay is slightly less than LTL pay, but a hell of a lot less aggravation. Truckload is dispatched out of WV, treated like a separate Company than regular New Century. LTL trucks are T600's with 86' studios and T2000's all have APU's, all automatics(Eaton Fuller), Super Singles...Truckload DIvision trucks are T600's with all the same but with smaller sleepers.

    Default Thx U

Thanks all 4 your input, im riddin with New Century! Also thanks 4 input on Sharkey and Jevic , i had asked about earlier this month. Im not the type 2 jump ship, but with current employer, ive been waiting since July 4 miles and loads 2 get better, now the bottom line is finances. I will now invest New Century, I will give it atleast 3 months til im up 2 speed with there operations, but after that anything seems shakey, i will jump ship, no more waiting for better days, 4 me. Cost way to much![/b]

I'm sitting next to a new century driver here in Cincinnati and his truck looks really nice. Rig Master generator, super singles, auto shift.

Please update us on how you like it when you get a chance. I was looking at their pay rates though and for 2 yrs experience they pay .36 CPM? :?: I hope their bennies are good because that seems pretty low.

    EDIT:

They offer the reimbursement because a cell phone is required to work for them.

I have no problem with that. As much as I used the damn thing to contact shippers/receivers et al, it's about time someone stepped up and offered the $50 back to the driver.

A word of caution: be aware of what you're getting yourself into with Jevic & New Century. Both those companies specialize in break-bulk free LTL. Think of it as a blend between truckload and LTL freight which means unload and do pick ups all day and evening then run like a bat out of hell all night to start the cycle over the next day. Pays decent but you'll work your azz off peddling stops even in the TL division. That type of haulin' pretty much forces you to cook the books.

I looked into them recently and was rather surprised at their relatively low rate of pay. If I read it correctly the pay for unloading was terrible as was the stop pay. Trucks sound good though.

LTL is very stressful...pick here 1 skid, drive 25 miles pick up 3 skids, backtrack to pick up rest of trailer load...then off to 1st of 4-8 deliveries. Truckload is less P&D but the miles ARE THERE, as advertised. My pops has been in Truckload Division for about 3 weeks. Has run consistant 3000+ miles leaving Monday and returning home the following Tues. (approx) each time he is dispatched. Pay is lower but hell, if you run more miles, its a wash? He rarely ran that many miles in the LTL Division, they lack enuff Regional drivers in the Northeast...HMMM I wonder why? New Century pulls a hell of alot of freight(all truckloads) out of Proctor and Gamble in CT going out to IA, NC...
IF you WANT to RUN...they WILL run YOU!!!!
