Whether its a wash or not is a matter of opinion I think. I believe most people would rather drive fewer miles at a higher rate of pay to make the same amount.

Karnajj, I completely agree. I'm just passing on my pops experiences for those to read. As in my career, (BMW Technician) money is a decent part, but personal happiness and degree of stress level are notable too. My dad is a heck of alot happier running wide open than bouncing from shipper to shipper all within 50 miles of each other making pickups running it too Jersey only to be sent back up to New England and do it over again. In his own words, "I'm a Road Driver, not a Regional Driver". Thanks for the conversation Karnajj...appreciate it.

Hello all, said i would be back. Orientation.. 1 per room in holiday inn express, they fed us well lunch and dinners in nice places. Im 1 of 5 who left with new KW's my trk had 121 miles @ X of take over. I got a real positive feelin about the as far as being real and down to earth, im in TL.. The max u will get is 41 cent. I spoke to LTL and alot of them r @ 50 cent. There turn over rate is 14% an bennifits r great. They will come close 2 union but not all the way, gota pay for the ride! The NJ. terminal is nice and alot of drivers were up beat and bin there awhile. I was told give it a few months and u will b happy. They do try 2 use TL 4 LTL but was told 2 tell them no. Im willing 2 do my 14 hr day and want 2!!! Now its x... I hope i make the monies I want 2. I will hold my end up and hope they do!

History between Jevic & New Century, the owner of Jevic 6 yr.s ago sold his co. for 226 mil. He did not like the idea of being told what 2 do by other sharks, think union was trying 2 put there hooks in, its part of the plan. He sold out and didnt have a contract not 2 compete.. And started New Century... With 50 trks.. And took off from there, now i hear Jevic is
4sale alot less. This man Harry who built these Co.s started with a flatbed which he drove in the 80's. 1 man band, with a wife and 3 daughetrs. The name Jevic is broken down 2 his 3 daughters name. I find this 2 b very adminrable. And i do like the way he out smarted the sharks!

hey whorutommy, were you down in Martinsburg WV at the TL terminal this week? My dad pulled in there to fuel and had told me there were about 6 new drivers in orientation. They got shuttled from WV to NJ to pick up there new T600's. He talked to the driver , Vernon I think. He had already met him before and Vernon asked how my father liked TL....My father told him he's making more money with TL than with LTL!!! Guy just shook his head...Good Luck whorutommy...
My dads name is Jerry I..... he's headin down to NC tomorrow with load of boxes from Rand Whitney in NH to Proctor and Gamble...

Keep us up to date with your adventures, please! I've always wanted to find out more about New Century.

I saw a driver at a Rite-Aid DC in Rome, NY a long time ago. I loved the big Volvo and the super single driver tires.

    I'm easy to please...

Yes my home terminal is Martinsburg, u spend 2 days there and 1 day @ Westampton. Vernon explains opps 4 new hires and is a driver mediator should u have problems or issues. He is a good guy with a sense of humor. I suggest if u hire ON, and u listen to rock, country or hip hop.. Take your own cd player his music will put u 2 sleep on the 3 hr ride. If u need Viagra he will take u 2 walmart 4 the prescription.

There hiring 4 more drivers 4 Martinsburg this yr. I don't know about Westampton.

And as far as my recruiter Stephenie she is great and on top of the game. She has had dispatch experience, her husband is a driver also..

I flew in and had the worst flight ever, been flying since 85 , i went 2 wrong term @ airport, by the time i was ch.ing in I had 40 min.s til plane took off and they would let me board, because the security line was 2 long, I ended up calling her while i was on plane with a whole different itinerary and landing @ a different airport. As I got to the airport not the original that was planned, she was there waiting 4 me.. I gave the shortest version of this awful flight and lost luggage, bottom line she rolled with it!

All my stops were quick @ unloading. If your 2 a stop longer then 20 min.s they want to be notifyed. There macro system is very out dated, u do receive help on making it right. Its nothin to worry about, just takes time.. My miles have been great!!! My truck is great! Also had a break down with apu unit, and was fixied the same day, there mechcanics want it right!

So far i have the miles i need and gotten home, 4 reset.

    Thanks all and b-safe!

Update, driving is going well, my miles r there, most shippers and receivers r on x, I have not had 2 look 4 mt trl. yet! Its about 75% drop an hook 4 me. Freight is slow @ this x. And im gettin miles! I do get multi stop some x's its quick. There mech.s there want things right, twice my apu needed work and was fixed correct. I was out 4 2 weeks, and they did want me to stay a day and do multi stops in VA. which would have gave me little home x. Being im in TX. and was under aload headin 2 Laredo, they did cancel VA. And sent me home. I was told they gotta try to throw that in with a laugh, and i said i know how they work. But so far my freight has been better then most, miles r what i need and the people of NCTL have been very helpful.!!!
