Leather seats, nice stereo, cb... very nice. There are some ratty old Freightliners that are still in the system that are being phased out - not everyone gets a Pete. Some KW's out there too.

The 387 is roomy on the inside but harder to drive and has electrical problems. The 379 is compact for sure but has many advantages. TMC is ordering a boatload of new 379's to replace the older trucks. The 387's will probably be reserved for trainers.

i have a new 387 i prefer it over the 379 much more visibilty than the 379 i've got trainees that have both and that have driven both and they say the 387 is by far the best of the 2 even if your not training but i know guys that train in the 379a but for me if i had to drive one of those to train in i definately wouldn't be training

but i've had 2 387 and i haven't had any electrical problems at all the last one i had i turned it in with 166k and there wasn't anything wrong with it and the brand new one i have runs like a mashed cat but it all depends on how u run the truck

It runs great through the mountains i come from the virginia line to charleston wva. in an hour and 15 minutes with 45000 lbs on the other day it performs great

bu like everything else each to their own

So you were averaging 75 mph in a governed truck joker?? Going thru 3 tolls and some good hills.

on depends what u call a governed truck average 75 thats not an overspeed as long as the truck doesn't go over a certain number it doesn't register an overspeed so there for not a safety violation

well what i consider charleston is when u reach the kanaugh city twin bridges which is outside of charleston but i'm from that area but it's like chicago it has engulfed the other little towns around but its still charleston to us anyway which is about 82.5 miles long from the boarder to the city

but even that is still possible for sure if u can run a truck i know i've seen me do it just ask tcurr he's followed me through there in his truck

I'll take your word for it joker. I've seen some trucks, not TMC, go blasting between Beckley and Charleston looking like a wreck waiting to happen on some of them curves. I usually run with the flow of the cars at about 65-70 and have had trucks pass me like I was tied to a tree. What's it like coming out of the last toll gate crossing over that double bridge before Chelyan in a fully loaded semi?? I cannot stand that piece right there, my pickup dances all over the road as it bounces off the other side of the first bridge. Front tires actually lose contact with the ground and start wheel hopping across the road even when I drop down to 50 mph.

I was gonna say about that hour and 15 min run that you had to be kididng if you came across 64, because it takes a full hour to get to Beckley running 75 all the way along with coming up Sandstone Mtn/Widowmaker.

I know that stretch pretty well...... Charleston, Beckly and Bluefield WV. It's possible to run that stretch in 1hr 15 min. If you know the road and run it often you don't slow down to much. You can allways tell who hasnt ran that road much and who knows the road.

yeah thats the key is knowing it but if u set up for it u can roll good and steady without any problem but it is different if u got a high load but 1 to 2 feet of the deck is really good mountain freight

yeah at that bridge a jb hunt truck laid one over right there two tuesday's ago it cost me an extra 45 minutes getting home that night i only live about 50 minutes from right there but then again that turn is not bad in a big truck if u know its coming but if not that could usually be the end result

as far as a pickup yeah a little rough not enough weight to hold things together

Sorry to hear that, I really thought T.M.C. trucks were faster than that, as I said that's just about what our trucks are cut back to, and I hate it..

But I guess the slow azz trucks are about the only gripe I have, T.C.W. is a really great company, we drive day cab Peterbilt's some drivers get home about every night, the road drivers "such as me" get home every friday, the company put's us up in motels through the week..

But I hate being out there running as hard as I can in a 70mph speed zone and I can't even do the speed limit.

Looking for a Better Day on down the road..

well i just traded up to this truck and so i am still setting the rewards so since it has so little miles every time i idle for a short period of time it kills my mph reward and sets me back to 66 or 67. i just have to get some more miles on the truck or drive 55 in 13th for a few hours and it will be ok. Patience

I was driving the turnpike Thursday while my trainer sat in the jump seat He didn;t think that I could do it. ... He didn't remember that I know the turnpike and all the construction in Charleston area, but what suprised me was all of the construction right there at exit 34 all the wat to the state line.

What a week I had... I drove up to my trainer last sunday night so that we could drive to the consignee monday morning by... We get going deliver to Indy, make a pickup to deliver to Denver CO. We did that by Wednesday... Make a pickup north of Denver and start making our way back to Kansas City, where we unloaded and reloaded and started bookin towards Tuskalouska Alabama where we unloaded and reloaded right around the corner from each other, I guess that won't happen very often. Then back to Fayetteville NC for HT. We mady 3997 to the truck, which I drove 70% of the miles, which my trainer said that I would have been able to do myself, being that I am just in my third week of training.

    Default line haul vs reg

well since i just started i couldnt tell ya but i think if you work in either div. i think you would be profitable on either side, just that longhaul drvrs are home more freq than longhaul are and they Tarp More Cargo.

Did you go out with a trainer? How much experience did you have when you came to TMC?
