There's a local UPS/Overnight terminal close to my home, BUT, those people never quit or retire. The only time a job opens up there is when someone dies.

ANother problem too is unless you got pull or know someone you still wont get hired. Cuz someone that already works there knows someone in need of a good job. Thats the way it is around where i live.

Listen here, sizzlechest.
I'm not bragging about anything...I'm only tossing out some #'s as a wake-up call so these chumps can see how much they're getting rooked by the coolie carriers.
If drivers ever wised up and demanded fair pay for their time, this industry would be in much better shape.
So many out there these days trucking for chicken lights, cherry masters, rebel flags, big radios, eight-ball shifters, and chrome.
I'm not out there to show my big red rooster cruiser off to the rest of the world.
I'm out there for one reason and one reason alone.
And that's to make the best dollar possible.
If more drivers thought the same, we'd all be in better shape....

Would you like a size 13 boot up yours?

Try looking at reality. NOT EVERYONE CAN LIVE IN AN AREA THAT HAS GOOD PAYING JOBS!

As for drivers demanding fair pay, keep dreaming. That dream died years ago!

Try give some of these guys and girls credit, at least they are not home collecting gov't checks. At least they are trying to make ends meet for their families.

Now answer me this, if your local job is so great, then why do you have another job on the weekends hauling mail and do you log that?

I await a answer
like I will ever get one from you

No kidding. If I was making the incredible money he makes driving around on the Mass turnpike every day (and getting paid to sit in that wonderful traffic up there), my weekends would be spent on my bass boat on the best stretch of water I could find.

any place you live the wages reflect the high cost of living in that area.(cali. high wages) high cost of living. states where cost of living is low, low wages. what that driver makes has nothing to do with other parts of the country. i'd love to make those wages and live where i live now. and no it has nothing to do with sitting on my hands until i get the wages i feel are right for every driver in the country.

My area runs ads for drivers that usually read, "Local-home every night, $13.50 an hour." Others are less, one was only paying $8 something an hour. I rarely see anything in the paper above $14 an hour. Some are slick about it, they list it as "competitive pay" and when you look up the phone number to see who the company is you get your answer on what the "competitive pay" is going to be. Local drivers in my area don't really see anything over $14 an hour unless your with FedEx or UPS who are nearly impossible to get on with. I'm making $17.50 where I am and I'm family. The cost of living here is high and going up still, the wages have not gone up with it.
