You're entitled to your opinion on this, Doc, but I really hope it doesn't persuade too many to follow your example.
Gee all I did was answer a challange and as for others being persuaded, it is doubtful.

For the What It's Worth Department: A sign of a good writer is the ability to take the opposite view in any given discussion, whether it be pro or con. If it ruffles feathers, so be it. There are two sides to every issue and it is rather interesting to watch and read the reactions.

With all that said I still have no use for OOIDA, period.. End of story!
Why is it when I press one for ENGLISH I still can't understand the person on the other end???

No feathers ruffled here. Like I said, you're entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. You're also entitled to choose whether or not to be a member of OOIDA or any other organization.

But, whether you believe it or not, your opinion on this board does persuade people. Sometimes it persuades them to follow you, sometimes it persuades them to choose the opposite idea.

For the What It's Worth Department: A sign of a good writer is the ability to take the opposite view in any given discussion, whether it be pro or con. If it ruffles feathers, so be it. There are two sides to every issue and it is rather interesting to watch and read the reactions.
As for that....I didn't realize this was a writing contest. If that's what it is, I am way out of my league. If you're trying to start a debate I'm still out of my league but will give it a shot. Keep in mind I was never a debate student, so do not know all the proper rules of engagement.

Please give us some of your "con" views besides the "Run Compliant" not working out.

My answer to that one: OOIDA can not lock you out of your truck. They threw out the idea, it seemed like a good one so it was tried. One month was chosen due to the fact that drivers of all kinds believe they have to run non-compliant in order to make a living. Had it been said to run compliant from now on, no one would have tried it. Little bites when trying something new.

Several did it and still manage to do it most of the time. Several tried to do it and failed, due to circumstances mostly beyond their control. But at least they tried and are continuing to try. Most said to heck with it, let the rest of the industry fix the problems and then I'll step in and reap the benefits. With that attitude there will not be any benefits.

We will continue to sit at the docks with very little or no pay for it. We will continue to pay the fines and court costs for over weights, speeding tickets to get there on time, log violations, etc. If we were to run compliant, none of those would be that big of an issue. Freight would get so backed up (in a short amount of time) that the docks would have to become more efficient. No violations - no fines. Enough rest to get safely through the day!! We may have to see a pinch in our pocketbooks for a little while, but that may be what it is going to take to get this fixed.

Personally, (this is my opinion, not necessarily that of OOIDA) I think if you can't handle the cash crunch from 1 month of running legal, you have no business in this business. You don't have enough positive cash flow or income to handle anything out of the ordinary. You are already one step from going under. That, or you are one the of trucks out there that really is running on no sleep or some kind of upper to keep you going. The one that needs put out of business before you kill someone. There again, you are one step from being buried.

Several "pro" views have already been mentioned. Feel free to contest them. Not just the good doctor,
With all that said I still have no use for OOIDA, period.. End of story!
but anyone wanting to comment, pro or con.

Member 4260, thank you. While they have not helped my industry any, rock hauling, they have done good. I write to my legislators everytime they give me the heads up to. Most of the time the legislators do what they way despite the public opinion, not OOIDA's fault. There's still a long way to goooooooo.
    I love my truck
