ClassicXL FR8liner - beautiful red chicken hauler truck. Speedo only went to 80 (85?) but was running with others at 90 - 95. (Man, those were the days....)

I drive a 2000 Mack Vision 460 pulling a coal bucket. The speedo registers 100. I've ran it up to 87mph before backing out of it.

Was in driving school, the truck I was driving was a 1999 freightliner and it was not governed. On I-80, coming up on three trucks going slower that I was, 65 at the time, by the time I pasted the lead truck I was going 85. The instructor told me I was going 85 when I pasted that truck. 8)

You see, that's the problem! Most of the drivers hwo can run fast, wouldn't do it , inless it's emergency, for few obvious reasons. And a lot of drivers hwo do run fast, have no idea, how to handle such speed! 20+ years ago, i was crazy about speed, and couldn't understand, why older drivers, well, most of them, don't run as fast, as they phisicaly can. Now i know why! I hope, you guys, well, most of you ,will drive, and live long enough, to find out for yourself! 8)

You know it's funny, I use to be a speed freak. I use to be a courier in Jacksonville, FL. Id have that little toyota pickup just a cookin.

I have sense then, mellowed out. Now people consider me a granny driver, and Im only 28.

Driving the trucks in cdl school, some of my class mates would ask me to speed up because Id drive slow and smooth.

I dont mind doing 65-70, but after that, I get a little tense.

Way to go Robert! You don't have to be old, to have a common sence! Only for some people, it takes longer, and some just never get it!

The truck I run now is capable of 105mph (owner had someone test it with a radar gun). I have yet to run over 75mph, and even then, I'm very uncomfortable. I normally run 65-70.

Slow and steady wins the race.

I don't wonna test my truck with radar gun , but i'm still curios about, how fast it could actualy go!Do you mind telling me, what kind of engine, tranny and rear ratio, and tire size you've got on that truck, so i could compare? My is 475-1850 torque C-15 CAT, eaton 13 double over, 24.5 low pro tires, and 3.55 rears. I belive, it should be at about the same range 102-105 mph, but i might be wrong by few miles! 8)

    I run an International Eagle with a 500hp Cat, 10 speed Spicer. Don't know the rear end ratio, but @ 70mph, it's @ 1,500rpm.

Yea, it should be about 3.55, so if your tires is 24.5, it's should be about the same. And for that 127mph, mr Rooster Cruiser posted, i doubt it very much, it's what is engine capable of, my ECM shows 127mph too, but to run that speed, your rear end should be like 2. something, which is not very practical, for working truck.

Oh, and one more thing! No state trooper will let you slide, for 127mph, you'll probably try those funny braslets, and visit local jail, and after you post a bail, you might loose your driving priviIeges for a whille! Not to mention some $$$ on lawers and fines! So, you should start that story-"YOU ARE NOT GONNA BELIVE ME..."

Nevermind I should of kept my mouth shut, But heres the story. Two National Carriers Drivers told the Schneider truck to get back in the right lane where I belonged, they did not see the slow 4-wheeler in front of me. They just would not shut up about the Schneider driver in the hammer lane, so when traffic cleared they passed me with all they had, then I passed them with all I had, then about a mile or two away ta da texas cop. After him being in awe that a truck would move that fast, I told him the story, then after cheking logs He let me loose. If I was a liar 1st thing I would not have my company leased to schneider it would be somebody like sammons or something, 2nd I would have big petes and western stars instead of freightliners and volvos. Soooo I forgive you for jumping the gun, if I did not know the whole thing I would not believe it myself.
