Default To Wash or Not to Wash...

I work for a smallish company. When I first started here, we had a guy that washed our trucks. Within about 6 months, his position was eliminated. Since then, it's been up to the drivers to wash our own trucks if we want to - the company doesn't care if they're clean or not. I've been in this truck since August and it hasn't been washed since I got in it. The truck I was in prior went about 2 1/2 years with only a couple washes.

So - That brings up the poll:
If the company doesn't remimburse the driver to have their truck washed, do you wash it on your own (or pay to have it washed)?

Off topic: is there any way to edit the poll? I though of a couple extra responses I wanted to put in it.

While a clean truck may impress the customer and improve available loads, it does not make the truck get any better fuel economy, and does not make it run better or faster. I may spring for it a few times when it gets really nasty, but it's company equipment. Putting it out of my own pocket to make the truck look better is not my responsibility. As an O/O, yes, but as a company driver, no.

Do they pay you to wash it?

They won't pay us (the drivers, the shop, etc) to do it ourselves nor will they pay to have it done by someone else.

After all the snow & crap in the northeast I've been in since December 23rd, I'm starting to think there won't be enough rain to turn my truck from the lovely shade of white/grey/brown back to the original red that it's supposed to be.

I have always liked a clean truck. If I had to wash it and not get paid I would.
Don't trust anybody. Especially that guy in the mirror.

If they assign me something decent, then I might wash it (on their dime). If not, then heck no. The past two trucks I've been assigned have been pieces of garbage, and neither of them got washed. If I owned the truck though, I'd wash it (just like I wash my pickup). Yes, big blue does pay for a truck wash each month... unless you're on 48-state.

My dad owns his own truck and I don't think he has washed it in the 18 months or so he has owned it.

It finally rained last night and today. At least I'm starting to see the red that's hidden under the grey & brown.

I wash mine every weekend. The longest I've gone without a wash was just recently during the cold spell. About 3 weeks without a wash. I was going berzerk, but I just couldn't make myself drag the hose out in 20 degree weather. I know, I'm a p**sy.
