Default Where would you like to see a truckstop at.........

Hello everyone,

Those of you that travel on the I -81 corridor in Virginia it has been reported through various trucking magazines to be in need of truck parking. My question to all of you that travel on that stretch of road is where you would like to see or have a truck stop located?

Thank you for your time.

"May the road rise up to meet you and the wind always be at your back...."

Default Thank you for your replies

Thank you, Twilight Flyer, and Sanchez 498, if you two only knew what this battgirl looks like hehe  , anyway thank you both for posting a reply and hopefully a vote as well to the survey question.

And for all of you that have taken your valuable time to post a response to my survey question I wish to extend my deepest thanks and appreciation.

Besides taking the poll, I would really love to hear from you and what your opinions are regarding improving truckstops and what you would like to see added located along that I - 81 corridor. Your responses will only help make things better.

I personally think the "truck stop" of today needs to be different. I wouldn't place the emphasis on fueling as I would on providing things that the current ones have. Most carriers have deals with the major chains for the fueling so why not offer something different. A place where drivers would have a parking space that was at least 10 feet on either side. Private electrical hookups would be provided as well as an area that would allow for dogs to be walked by the truck. A central building where vending machines, showers, laundry facilities available. The best thing about it would be NO 4-WHEELERS OR CAMPERS ALLOWED.

Years and years ago the Boise Stage Stop used to have signs up in the resturant that said. "Everyone is welcome but truck drivers will be served first" Or something real close to that. Plus they also fueled your truck for you checked your oil did your windows the whole shebang. You just dont get service like that anymore.

As the winged chick has eluded to the truck stops along I-81 are piss poor as far as parking is concerned, pay special attention to the "J" in Winchester Va. that place needs to be destroyed and rebuilt. possibly into a Speedway, at least the place will be clean....

Default Thanks again,

You are correct Dr. Who the J in Winchester Va, is no more then a Cluster F** in the happening.

Which is why I am very intrested in everyones opinion regarding what they would like to have in a truck stop. Especially along that I - 81 corridor, from what I have seen personally traveling from that J in Winchester Va and the ones heading northbound all the way up to PA, one thing is very evident, truck parking sucks. Not enough space available, and not wide enough.

Thank you all for taking your valuable time in responding to my poll and I do love hearing from you.

Speaking of the J' in Winchester. The last time i tried to scale there I couldn't find a place to park long enough to get my scale ticket so took off with out it. Got lucky that time.

Besides some of the things mentioned above. The stalls in the bathrooms need improvement. They need to have doors that open open out away from the toilet. I hate playing dodge the toilet bowl when I am trying to get out. I sure dont want my clothes touching them. Since coffee, showers and the rest room are the biggest reason I go to truck stops the stalls are important to me.
