I was about to ask you what kind of freaky deaky language you were writing with, and then I saw your location, so you get a free pass (and a bit of jealousy).

NZ is a great place. I went to Prom with a foreign exchange student from NZ. She was friggin hot. I miss her. She taught me the proper way to say New Zealand. More like "NuhZehland". If I were to live in a foreign country, it would either be New Zealand or Albania. But I'd only live in Albania for the women. I'd live in New Zealand for the country. And the women.

Sorry for the hijack. Carry on.

Yeah the land of the long white cloud or the land of the wrong white crowd is a great place if it weren't for the politicians............

Never been to Albania but Austrian (not Australian) woman sure aren't hard to look at.....
Spent a little time in your fine country for a previous employer and loved driving our rental there.
Ultimately would like to drive OTR or maybe O/O if the opportunity came up.
We had a driver trainer type rooster here from Chevron San Ramone, I had to take out for a shift for an observation. He commented that if I had a work permit he'd be happy to take me on, so when the dollar goes the right way I may just take him up.

Anyway Rev feel free to hijack when ever it suits ya Big Fella

    Sparkie=Electrician

I worked with a group of British blokes for a couple of years. I always loved that particular moniker.

If I could figure out how to do it, I'd hardwire the headlights to turn on when I'm in a forward gear. That way the tail lights, etc., would last longer.

Bottom line: I want to make sure I'm doing everything I can think of so that other drivers can see me heading their way.
go to walmart, they have a thing that you plug in the fuse box and it turns just the headlights on whenever the key is on, it costs about 10 bucks. all you do is locate a fuse that is hot when the lights are on and plug it onto that fuse.

    Default Daytime Running Lights

Ten years ago I had a guy turn left in front of my car with his pickup. Classic "he looked right at me but did not see me" wreck resulted. I had my right leg straightlegged and my right foot kinda blew apart. Had to have it fused.

Since then I run with my headlights on no matter what I drive. Before DRL's became popular some people would holler hay your lights are on or blink their lights... well, they noticed me, didn't they?

I also have daytime running lights, it's against the law to disconnect them. I remember getting hell from a few of the DOT down south...UNTIL they realize I be a Canuck...then they left me alone!

I have DRL's, so they are bright enough to use even at night.

I run with my markers on during the day becasue in my truck it's easier to give a courtsey flash that way (high beams dont flash) and I ALWAYS drive with my headlights off at night, that way the bears dont see me

    Thumbs up

    I run headlights/fog lights 24/7.

Occasionally a BBR will say something to me about that. Well BBR doesn't run the country/city routes that I do, so it is absolutely none of his business.

About 6 weeks ago, an owner-op fuel hauler friend of mine had an accident on Indiana 26 outside of Kokomo in the cornfields. A car pulled out right in front of him. The driver's response "I didn't see you." (my friend, driving a white Freightliner, did not have headlights or fog lights on, and this was smack in the middle of Indiana corn fields. (straight out of Children of the Corn)

My bet? If he would have had these lights on, this accident might well not have happened.

So, to the next BBR running a "hot load" of generic paper table napkins to some DC in the middle of nowhere. I offer this..........Drive your own truck and I will do the same. When you have 8500 gallons of gasoline rolling back and forth behind you like I do every day............then we will discuss it.

Until then.............let's just all be safe..............
