This is partially a continuance to RadioRay's DAC Board posting about the 10 Meter Band and Export Radios. The poll is to survey how many of us have radios of this nature or even operate out of band. Don't be shy!
Stock radio, only use Ch 19
Big/Export 11/10 Meter radio, only use Ch 19
Big/Export 11/10 radio, only use some or all of the 40 channels in CB Band
Big/Export 11/10 radio, use 11 Meter/Out-of-Band channels
Big/Export 11/10 radio, use 10 Meter Amateur Band
I am a licensed HAM and operate the Amateur Bands legally.
What's a radio? I got my FM, my AM, and my XM. Who needs anything else?

I have a Cobra 200 all "done" up but I'm selling it because it's a hassle to hardwire it to the battery. Next up is an RCI 2950
Looks like a nice Ranger you're looking at. The one thing it doesn't cover on 10 Meters is the FM subband above 29,700 kHz. I'm using a Yaesu FT-857D to cover the ham bands from 160 Meters through 6 M (been hearing listening mostly to 40M and 20M). The 2 Galaxy's, one on 19, the other on 38 LSB, I have are hardly even turned up, just at the threshold of hearing in case I hear the keywords "smokey," "brakecheck," or "chickencoops."
Ah yes the FT-857D great mobile radio beats the crap out of the Icom 706 MK II....I'm using a Yaesu FT-857D to cover the ham bands from 160 Meters through 6 M (been hearing listening mostly to 40M and 20M).
Why is it when I press one for ENGLISH I still can't understand the person on the other end???
None of the above; I'm a cheapskate.
I just use two tin cans with a long string between them. Cheap, but offers very poor reception!!
God, I hope that "Radio Ray" doesn't get wind of this thread!! There will be no shutting him up then!! :P
tin cans are not authorized for use by amateur radio operators. you will be getting a letter from the fcc and a huge fine, you will also have your cans confiscated and subject your company to a fine, all this, just because you didnt bother to get a tin can license. moral.. GET A TIN CAN LICENSE OR STAY OFF THE TIN CAN FREQUENCY!!!!Originally Posted by Useless
I don't have any of the above. I have a Galaxy 949 that is pushed beyond stock. However, I stay on chan 19. Of course, the thing is normally turned down all the way so I can listen to my Opie & Anthony/Ron & Fez throughout the day without interruption.
Wanna play a couple online games that are absolutely free? These are the games I play on a very regular basis:
Battle of the West & Mobs Law
I just project my thoughts to other drivers ( Coast To Coast ). Do I need a license for that?![]()
Find something you like to do, be the best at it you can be, the money will come.
just dont project on Ray's frequency and I think you will be okayOriginally Posted by Ridge Runner

So far I still have a cheapass Cobra 19 that was in the truck when I got in it. I keep meaning to buy a real radio, but the Cobra 19 does the job, and I'm a cheap bastard when you get down to it.
The white noise is starting to drive me nuts though. I keep hearing things in the background radiation of random noise, and I've had to change the ringtone on my phone five times in four months to counteract this problem. I really need to quit being such a cheapskate and pry open my wallet to buy a real radio with a noise cancellation filter on it.
If it has big finals and puts out 192 terawatts, all the better, but I really can't bring myself to care about this, as much as I want to be a real supertrucker.
