I can't wait to get back out to New Mexico sometime and visit my friends there who make REAL mexican food. YUM YUM!
I know what you mean. I was delivering a load in La Habra, CA and they had a "roach coach" pull up and not only were the girls operating it latino but the majority of the personel working at the grocery whse were also hispanic descent. I generally wouldn't eat out of one of those but they showed up at breaktime and at least 50 of them were surrounding this kitchen on wheels, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered 2 carne esada steak soft tacos with no onions and an apple soda. The gal I ordered it from said "ah gringos no like onions." which I thought was funny, obviously not everyone dislikes the vile bulb... but whatever. I got some kind of hot sauce which I've never seen before. It kind of looked like the red peppers I see in spicy Chinese cuisine. Anyways... these 2 tacos were excellent!!! The hot sauce wasn't as hot as expected but did give a fair amount of bite. I really wish I had something like this close to home.

I was really worried that eating out of a roach coach would give me the *****s, but I was relieved that didn't happen.

You're right about Taco Bell. That stuff is garbage.
    Taco Bell = instant diarrhea.

I hear you on the NM. Of all the states I've been to NM is my fave. Great food, scenery and people. I've already tried to convince my wife to move to Deming... but she wasn't having it.

I've noticed in my area anyway, that a lot of the "Steak House", type restaurants, have been going out of business. Though I did notice a place open up not long ago called "Long Horns"...

They have some restaurants called the "Outback"... Though I don't think there is any true Aussie food on the menu... I'd have to double check on that...

There was a place called the 88 Restaurant. They used to have an all you could eat buffet, of not only steak, but a variety of American style dishes. You could also buy great cuts of beef there too... I don't know why, but, they went out of business...

These days, I think it may have a lot to do with this whole thing on fat... I think a lot of the "steak" type restaurants are cutting off the fat from their steaks before they cook them...

I can't even get a good steak in my local grocery store anymore... They've cut all the fat off them, and when you cook them, they have no flavor. Because anyone knows that it is the fat that gives meat it's flavor... Now they taste like cardboard when you cook them, unless you drown them in some kind of marinade... They've done it to lamb, as well... The only way I can get a good tasting piece of lamb is to buy a part of the leg with the skin still on it... I've stopped buying steak since it's just not worth it anymore to have it at home... I will still buy steak tips though. Though just once in a while... Beef has just gotten very expensive... I'd be better off raising my own...

That reminds me, I've got to talk to the grocery store butcher, and find out why they've stopped selling their steaks with at least some fat still on them... Especially since the prices have gone up... I'm sure they'll tell me the price went up, because they now are taking more time, to cut the fat off... :x

Nice try RedRaven! LOL. If you haven`t tried Outback Steak House, you are missing out on one great dinner!. The first time I went I asked for " A-1" you know all the condiments, well I didn`t need anything, in MY opinion it is the best steak I have ever had. Cool place also come as-u-are, check it out some time. C- Ya
