Default Hate it or Love it.

I've talked to a lot of people who say they love the job and wouldn't want to drive anything else, but then theres always the others who say they wish they would of went to school (not saying that you guys didn't) and started in a different line of work.

So, do you like it or hate it?

Gee, I don't know been driving for 28 years and just order another new KW with my partner. We figure we can put in another 15 to 20 before retiring from the road. This is all I have ever wanted to do and I have no regrets.

I was in another industry before I became a driver. I was actually hoping to have more free time, and the money to develope something else. Now, I'd like to win the powerball so I can retire while I can still enjoy it.

I love driving and owning a truck. I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking out the hood of my Pete. I get tired of the DOT obsessive troopers around here. But with age I wish I could do something more with the times. Some of us have no retirement to speak of. That's where some of the regret comes in, at least that's me.

Like I've posted previously, he's parked right now temporarily, but I still sit in him and just gaze out the windshield and wish my truck and I were going to El Paso, triple didgets, my truck and me as one. I do love my truck and the hood and the 'going somewhere'...........usually in my dreams now since I haul rock and don't go very far......................... :?

There are days when I hate this job, and there are days I adore it.

I hate being away from home so much, but there are times when I need a change of scenery, and what could be better for that than trucking?

I hate being looked down on by the illiterate nabobs who work in dispatch, but I love the fact that I only have to speak to my boss on rare occasions, because its assumed that I am competent to do my job without supervision (try finding a job with THAT benefit anywhere else!)

I hate the storms that endanger my life, but I also think storms are some of the most beautiful sights you can see anywhere, and lately it seems like I never have to worry about missing one.

I hate the selfish nature of the average four wheeler, but I love being pleasantly surprised by them (on rare occasions) and after all, SOMEBODY has to watch out for them -- Lord knows the average V.I.P. office temp commuter with a cellphone surgically attached to their very important ear couldn't survive merging into highway traffic on their own.

I hate what trucking does to our bodies, but I love the look of shock on the faces of yuppies who spy me excercising at rest stops. Its almost like they spotted a unicorn.

I hate the fact that I usually feel compelled to turn off the CB these days because of all the cursing and vileness, but I love the fact that once in a while you can still run across a person who is intelligent, fun to talk to, and going your way.

I hate the states where the DOT and CHP seem to have been groomed to sit on people and squash their spirit, but truth be told, I still run into more decent cops than bad, and that gives me hope.

I guess you could say trucking is what you make of it, that is, which side of the coin you choose to look at is how you will perceive it.

B.T.W. I voted "Like it but want to do something else." Not because its a bad job, but just because I'm restless and want to try a new experience.

I enjoy it for the most part, but at this time in life I am seeking a career change, and that is not too far from happening.
I would rather fail at something that will ultimately succeed rather than succeed at something that will ultimately fail.
