    Default Georgia Tech busted

For a whooping $312 they lose their ACC crown in football. What's worse was that it started with a problem in the basketball program and the NCAA stumbled onto an ineligible player on the football team. As a school, they were find $100K and 4 years probation even though there was an attempt to cover it up by the AD. The basketball team lost the number of days it's allowed to recruit. No loss of scholarships or postseason bans for coach's helping host an on campus youth b-ball tourney for the last 10 years which is considered illegal scouting.

The NCAA said Georgia Tech should have declared receiver Demaryius Thomas ineligible after he accepted $312 worth of clothing in ’09 from former Yellow Jackets quarterback Calvin Booker, who was working for a sports agent at the time.
Booker should have f-ing knew better unless he had done it himself while playing there.

This kind of stuff just makes me cringe. It makes me wonder when OU or somebody on OU's behalf will do something this stupid.

Your right. The Rhett Bohmar deal kind reiterated that you never know when, who, or where it could happen.

FSU was already in trouble a few years ago. They stripped the Seminoles of a number of wins which meant Bowden no longer had the most wins of any D-1 coach at that time. They got busted for a number of things, mostly it was academics though. If anything, they will be busted under Jumbo Fisher but this is news to everyone if it's true. Nobody has a hint that FSU could be in trouble, then again, nobody had a hint GT was going to get busted.

Lest we forget the Peter Warrick incident at Dillard's. The NCAA let them slide on that deal when he and teammate Laveranues Coles got a $400 discount.

On September 29, 1999, during Warrick's senior season at Florida State, Warrick and teammate Laveranues Coles went to a Dillard's in Tallahassee and bought $412.38 worth of clothing for $21.40—a discount so large that it is considered shoplifting under Florida law. An off-duty officer saw what happened through a surveillance camera. Warrick, Coles and the clerk, Rachel Myrtil, were arrested for grand theft. On October 22, Warrick pleaded guilty to misdemeanor petty theft in connection with the department store scam.

At the time of his arrest, Warrick was widely considered the frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy with 36 catches for 508 yards and four touchdowns on the season. Following the arrest, Florida State suspended Warrick for two games, since school officials did not want him playing while charges were pending. The two-game suspension, along with the negative publicity he received in the national media, ended any chance for Warrick to be awarded the Heisman Trophy.

Spurrier is always one to talk. He made Dook a winner, something HAD to be going on there in order to get players to that school along with lowering the admission standards for some of the guys he likes to recruit. Not saying they are all bad apples, but he does go after a few head cases and troublemakers every recruiting season.
