    Default OSU football

Yet another former OSU player under Tressel has come out and openly stated that everyone on the team was selling rings, jersey's and whatever else they could to get deals on apartments and cars. He even went on to say that the school knew all about it, it was no big secret. It appears that they have a huge problem in Columbus that could get even bigger. Should the hammer be dropped on them like it was for SMU?

Said player has now recanted most of his story as being untrue and words put into his mouth by an OSU campus newspaper. The paper stands by it's story and says they put it in print word for word off the recorder used to do the interview. Sounds like someone close to the program jumped him over going public with the truth. Why would the school's own paper give out false info that could really hurt everyone publicly?

Coach Tressel has resigned with mounting allegations/scandals. Chicken, ran off like Ron Meyer pulled just before SMU got socked.

I think he got blindsided while on vacation with his wife. He returned yesterday and suddenly he was meeting with OSU. What changed while he was gone, a former player went public on how everyone knew all about what was going on. I think we still see some penalties, the question is how tough will they be? OSU AD Gene Smith has friends on the NCAA Infractions Committee that he was/is a part of. A big school like OSU needs a reminder and it would provide a real good example to the other big boys if OSU is hit with the 2 year ban of football. They sort of got everyone's attention with USC, time to further the education by dropping a bigger bomb on OSU to show how serious the NCAA is.

I personally would like to see them send Pryor down the river. He was so cocky and was such an AZZ coming out of High School. Now, I hope they DO give them the death penalty. You can't have that many people involved in something like that and NOT have it leak out. Here are a couple of interesting articles, sorry if you have read them already.

I haven't been keeping up with the OSU news. Then, I heard about Tressel resigning all of a sudden. That throws a little fuel in the fire. I wonder what's going to happen next. Football program going to get suspended? President going to get suspended/fired? I believe Tressel knew that he was about to get in deep water, so he got out.

Lot of fans suspect this is just the tip of the iceberg, Tressel running off. He did the same at Youngstown St, left as they were getting into hot water. I would sincerely hope that no future team ever hire a coach who runs off before their former school is sanctioned, whether it be the NFL or NCAA. It keeps happening and it needs to be stopped by teams not hiring these type of coaches. Great job Tressel, way to preach integrity, heck even wrote a book on it, and not follow it. Nice intro speech to the students and fans when he was officially introduced as the coach. Something along the lines of, "These student-athletes will be student-athletes you can be very proud of under my tenure, on the field or off the field." I bet the OSU fans are so dang proud right now, bet they will be really proud if the death penalty comes. With the Feds involved this isn't as simple as the SMU scandal, this is worse. 2nd time the Feds have been involved with a Tressel team.

As for Pryor, makes you wonder why PSU didn't get him to stay home. Can't compete with a school offering cars, apartments and cash money while your offering them a chance to play and get an education. JoePa would have already sent him packing I believe. I say he is gone along with the other 4 players that were suspended now to the NFL Supplemental Draft coming up. It's too bad if that happens, the NCAA will be left with egg on their face and I bet they really drop the hammer on OSU.

Our local sports radio station, (The Sports Animal), was going over a list this morning of other coaches who had done basically the same thing Tressell has, not just football but basketball, baseball, mens and womens, Holy mackarel! It is a long and distinguished list. I don't remember most of the names but a lot of "known" names were on it.

One of them I'm sure your familiar with Rabbit was Ron Meyer, who left SMU just before they got the Death Penalty and got an NFL Head Coaching job. I knew Tressell wasn't alone but I had no idea the list was that long.

Ron Meyer was an early Jim Tressel or Pete Carroll. Nice guys, players always liked them but behind closed doors they were some super conniving son of a guns. Everyone always said, "Dang Meyer can flat recruit" but it turned out he was cheating the system better than the others at the time.

Heck, Meyer was the one who ordered the snow plow driver to go clear a path for his kicker in the infamous "SnowPlow Game" while he was the coach for the Patriots. Think he wasn't always dreaming up some way to cheat? Of course the team mutinied on him 2 years later. He always had one heck of an offensive scheme but once teams figured it out after 1 season of seeing it, it was useless in the NFL.

And now the snowball starts to get bigger as it is going to gain speed going down the hill. I can't imagine what is going to "come about" from other players down the road.

I just love how his HS school coach is defending him, waiting for him to trot out the line of, "It's cuz he's black ain't it?" Seeing more and more come out about Pryor, no way does he stay now, he's going to bolt.

When they were recruiting him, (Pryor), he was talking smack about how great he was going to be, and how they were going to be naming streets after him and retiring his jersey wherever he played, he was a real jerk, not that he's alone. It's a shame, he COULD have been one of the ALL time greats. He has ton's of talent and IS/WAS a great player. Somebody will take a chance on him just because of his talent. What the H*LL, he's probably leaving, going to make ton's of money, what does he care how he's remembered or leaving a descent legacy, AKA Reggie Bush.

And Pryor has bolted OSU. He is looking to get drafted in the NFL's Supplemental Draft if it happens or possibly head to the CFL or UFL if it doesn't happen. My thoughts on his decision, bad choice to skip out on the punishment when things got tough. That does not look good to NFL teams. It shows your not a leader and a QB is supposed to be a leader. I'm thinking he will be lucky to simply sign on as a free agent to the practice squad of an NFL team, he's gonna have to prove himself.

How many times have you seen a situation like this turning out good? It will be a miracle IF he even makes a team, I don't care how talented he is. His youth and attitude are working against him, IMHO

Outside The Lines on ESPN had a nice story about this mess. This is definitely the tip of the iceberg if all the info they gave out is true. The Talbott guy told ESPN that the former "friend" of Pryor was wrong on his info only to have OTL show that the friend was 100% correct via eBay.

Can you say No OSU for at least 5 Years. That is what a couple people I know are saying at another Big 10 School. The NCAA is going to make a HUGE example of of OSU and then tell the other Powerhouse schools we are going to come in and go over everything at your schools and we see anything close to what they had your getting the same thing. They are so sick of crap like this happening. They are also sick of of the ONE and DONE Colledge Basketball players.
