and LSU's QB play is terrible.
So does RichRod get a third year? No way Michigan should have slipped this far. Didn't they beat Florida in the capital One bowl just 2 years ago? 8-16 overs two years. No excuse for that.

Well to be fair to Michigan and Rich Rod, he did have 2 Freshmen QB's this year and really, they did not play that bad against OSU. It was a game, not a blowout like some thought it might be. Too bad Ryan Mallett didn't fit into his system, he's been tearing it up down at Arkansas as a classic drop back passer. Wolverine fans need to have patience, he didn't make West Virginia good overnight. He had to build them up and even then it took him some time. Took him 4 years to get a QB and RB tandem that works for his offense.
They did play well for the most part and I figured they would. The seniors wanted a win against OSU before they left and everyone else just wanted a win period. As for 4 years, Michigan wont give him that. He needs results next year or he's gone for sure. I wonder did he just get lucky with Slaton and White and maybe he's not that good? All I know is Mi was never, ever, this bad. 3 years ago they were undefeated and ranked no. 2 when they played OSU, 2 years ago they beat defending NC Florida and Tim Tebow. People wanted Lloyd Carr's head because of App State and losing to OSU but look where they are now. If Harbaugh keeps winning at Stanford the Wolverines will be calling, and soon!
Great game last night between Oregon and Arizona. The civil war will be for the roses this year. I think I saw Scoe on TV entering the stadium.

One interesting stat I saw was that Bo had 5 games giving up 30 or points in 30 years and that Rich Rod has had 16 games giving up 30 or more points in 2 years......ouch not so much Michigan football there.
"I love college football. It's the only time of year you can walk down the street with a girl in one arm and a blanket in the other, and nobody thinks twice about it." --Duffy Daugherty
Well the thing about that stat is that RR builds an offense that is supposed to outscore you. It's a basketball style offense in a fast break and if he can simply outscore you then he could careless about his D. You saw the same type of deal at WV and still do until Snyders recruits get better.
That aint no joke!![]()
He is cleaning house. Too bad Arkansas isn't winning more games.
I think if Michigan will give Rich more time, he will build up that program. You can't turn it overnight, unless you have a lucky season and a lot of talent. West Virginia was knockin heads when he left.
I wished I could have seen that Oregon vs Arizona game. Ya know how ABC has that dumb regional coverage..We had Texas vs Kansas.I know in Texas, we will have the Big 12 on, but good grief! Who wants to watch Texas demolish an unranked team.

DirecTV gives me the ESPN Alternate channels so if a regional game is blacked out on ESPN or the Duece because a local ABC is showing it. If I want to watch another game that ABC/ESPN is showing at the same time slot on ESPN or ABC I flip onto the Alternate's and watch the other game(s.) Like they were showing UVA/Clemson at the same time and same channel of Penn St/MSU this weekend, went to channels 210 and watched the Penn St/MSU game because it ESPN was showing the UVA/Clemson game but it was blacked out in my area because it was being shown on the local ABC channel.
I went to bed with like 2 minutes left and Arizona up by a score and Oregon had just got the ball back with like 1 timeout figuring Arizona had it in the bag. Woke up the next morning and saw Oregon had won in double OT........
I have Dish Network, and for the most part, I can find the alternate channels. That was the first thing I did, but I didn't see it. I have a ABC West, but it was showing regular programming. I can usually find the other games that are on, but the Oregon/Arizona game was the only one I didn't see. I could have overlooked it.
I was able to see it on espn360.com.
How about Temple going down from the Big East to the MAC and becoming a big fish in a little pond.........9-2 and 1st in the East division of the MAC. Nice to see they finally wised up in football and got out of the Big East even if they were strong-armed out.
College football thoughts?
Rodriguez will get a final chance. If he doesn't turn in a 9+ win team next year, he's gone.
While on the subject of the Big 10, let's talk Iowa football for a second. If Ferentz puts Ricky Stanzi in for the bowl game and Iowa loses, expect Ferentz to be on the hot seat. even with a 10 win season. He's taken heat for his stance on QB's, parking his freshman for 2 years so that when they start as Juniors, they are mediocre at best. Stanzi is a perfect representation of that school of thought. I like Ferentz...I think he's a good coach. But he bones his QB's and it cost him a perfect season this year.
Is there any worse 6-6 bowl team than Minnesota? My gosh, the local old folk's home could put their 90+ year olds on the field and be a better team than Minnesota. They play badly and they are coached badly.
Is there any better 6-6 team than Iowa State? They are 2 special teams plays from 8-4. Paul Rhodes has really given that school life in only his first year.
Mark it down. Insight.com bowl. Iowa State 31 Minnesota 10 Like how I came full circle there?
Weiss is gone...should have been gone last year. Notre Dame is going to eat $18 million.
TCU should be in the National Title game. Of the smaller schools, they will eat anyone alive this year. I'd love to see TCU vs. Florida.
Remember Boise State and the statue of liberty play a few years back against Oklahoma? They have already proven that they belong in a BCS game and can play win anybody.
Not so sure about Cincy.
I say it every year...the BCS SUCKS! Bring on the playoffs!
Kirk Ferentz must have picked up that school of thought on QB's from the former UVA coach, Coach Welsh. That is all he did so you'd have 1 good year with a QB, 2 if you got lucky and the kid was really good and then it was back to the drawing boards for the next one. The team was always decent with a decent QB, 6-5, 8-3 but never a real contender. VT and Beamer were the same way until a kid by the name of Mike Vick came along and changed all that.
Speaking of Boise St and TCU..talk about some trickery. Those 2 schools run more tricks that any of the big schools I've watched. I've seen both of them play, and you never know what play they will run.
I know this is saying a lot, but I would but both TCU and Boise St up against anybody in the country.
I remember several years ago, TCU had 1 loss. They played USC, I think it was in the Fiesta. They made USC look like a bunch of 4th graders.
Same way with Boise St. They proved the country that they had a football team when they beat OU in the Fiesta. I listened to the game, and then the next morning I watched the highlights. That hook and ladder, and the Statue of Liberty was perfect. Not a single flaw.
Those types of plays is what makes TCU and Boise St rock n roll! I believe both of those schools could shock the whole country, if they get a chance to play in a 'real' bowl game.
Actually, it’s not his fault. Les Miles and the most incompetent quarterback coach/offensive coordinator in the history of college football, Gary Croton, coach him and are responsible for his poor performance. As a matter of fact, it was under Gary Croton’s wonderful quarterback coaching last year that led to Jarrett Lee throwing for 16 interceptions in just 8 games with 7 of them being run back for pick sixes, which set a new all time NCAA record for pick sixes.
I can remember when that incompetent, Les Miles, hired Gary Scrotom, which is what I call him, reading the blogs written by Oregon and BYU fans at the time and they were raving on what a dumb mistake Les Miles had made. Those bloggers were saying that LSU as opposed to Oregon and BYU were loaded up with talent and if anyone could find a way to make LSU’s talent look bad it was coach Gary Scrotom, and unfortunately, everything they said has come to fruition.
I mean if you look closely at coach Srotom’s record before he ever got to LSU, it was very apparent that he has royally screwed the offense at every place he had ever coached at. Thus, it was inevitable his despicable record would carry on at LSU.
Anyway, I don’t know if any of you guys saw the end of the LSU/Ole Miss game last Saturday, but LSU recovered an onside kick trailing by 2 points with 1:04 to go in the game after missing two shots at a two-point conversion thanks to the brilliant play calling of Gary Scrotom again.
Anyway, Jefferson hit a short pass to Brandon Lafell who broke about four tackles and ran it down to the Ole Miss 31-yard line with a little over 40 seconds to go in the game. It was a spectacular run and, by the way, he was also the guy who had recovered the onside kick at full stride also just a few plays before that one.
Thus, it is first and ten with a little over 40 seconds to go in the game, we still have our two time outs left, and all we have to do is run the ball three straight plays, kick a field goal, and if we make it LSU wins the game, and our field goal kicker had already made a 50-yarder earlier in the game and we were already closer in.
Anyway instead of running the ball on first down, that idiot Scrotom calls a pass play, which freaked me out because I didn’t want Jefferson to take a sack. Nevertheless, after being chased out of the pocket, Jefferson manages to throw the ball away and the clock stops on the incomplete pass.
So it is second and ten with about 30 something seconds to go and again Scrotom calls another damn pass play. So I start hollering, “Jefferson whatever you do don’t get sacked,” and just as I was saying that I could see Ole Miss’s weakside defensive end chasing him down from his blind side and sure enough Jefferson takes a sack from his blind side without ever seeing the defensive end charging in and loses 9 fricking yards in the process. Time out is called by LSU.
Thus, it is third down and now nineteen yards to go for a first down with just about 30 seconds left to go in the game and now we don’t have a choice, we have to pass the damn ball because we are out of field goal range now. This time ole Scrotom, that offensive guru, dials up a bubble screen out in the left flat, which ends up losing 7 more yards on the play and more importantly without the LSU receiver being able to get the ball out of bounce to stop the clock.
So now it is fourth down and 26 yards to go with the ball on the Ole Miss 47 yard line with 26 seconds remaining in the game, but coach Miles, that incompetent, forgets to call time out. So the clock continues to run and wind down until there is just 9 seconds left in the game when miraculously someone decided to call time out. Meanwhile, I’m having a hissy fit and pulling my hair out at the same time.
In any event, on the fourth down play Jefferson hits Terrence Tolliver on a beautiful 42-yard pass play and Tolliver is tackled at the Ole Miss 5-yard line. Thus, it is now first down and goal to goal at the 5-yard line but with just 1 second to go in the game, but there was sufficient enough time to get our field goal team on the field because the referees have to move the chains from the 47 yard line.
Anyway, Jefferson and Tolliver both say they thought they were supposed to come off the field so the field goal team could rush onto the field and kick a chip shot field goal which is a routine they practice every week, but when they both turned around to trot off the field, the field goal team was nowhere to be seen, and coach Miles and coach Scrotom were yelling and signaling for Jefferson to spike the ball with just one second to play.
Well, of course, inevitably LSU blew that game because you can’t spike the ball with just 1 second to go and expect to be able to have another play to run. Therefore, it ended up being the single biggest example of gross incompetence I have ever personally witnessed as a player and a spectator in my entire life.
What was really hilarious though was during the evening news broadcast later that night, they showed Les Miles at the post game press conference stammering, stuttering, and denying that he had told Jefferson to “clock” the ball all the while they showed him running, hollering, and motioning for Jefferson to “clock” the ball in the background and they kept replaying it repeatedly in the background the whole time that idiot Les Miles was making his denial and lying at the same time. It was absolutely fricking hilarious. I actually didn’t watch this broadcast live because I was still out on the road but saw it later on youtube.
Anyway, like I have been saying for years now after observing LSU play, Les Miles is completely incompetent, and I said it in 2007 when LSU won the national championship and I still stand by it today, that LSU won the national championship despite Les Miles. Not to mention that the 2005 and 2006 teams were more talented than the 2007 team. In any event, all those teams, 2005, 2006, and 2007 were coach Saban’s players and not Les Miles players.
Nevertheless, after the biggest blunder in LSU history last Saturday, finally the entire tiger nation is screaming for Les Miles to be fired. Not even his apologists will speak up for him anymore. It’s hilarious!
Oregon vs Oregon State this Thursday night. They call that game the Civil War, right? I will be listening to that one. Should be good.
SEC championship.
That will be a good game. I think it will come down to who scores last at the end. I also think Bama has good chances of beating Florida.
Big 12 championship.
I don't know about this one.. Nebraska could fool ya, but this one might be a blowout.
