    Default NASCAR Mexico driver dies

Driver Carlos Pardo has been killed in a crash during the final laps of a NASCAR Mexico race, organizers said.

Pardo was leading the race in the 97th lap when his car was nudged by a competitor from behind and slid sideways into a wall at the entrance to the pit lane at about 120 mph on Sunday. The car disintegrated as a result of the impact.

Pardo was removed from the wreckage and sent by helicopter to a hospital. The NASCAR Mexico Web site reported that he died 45 minutes later.

Perhaps the worst carsh of a stock car I have ever seen, warning it is pretty brutal to watch. RIP Carlos.

Oh jesus, that looked just like Mikey Waltrip's and Mike Harmon's Busch crashes during practice at Bristol. What a horrible place for the jersey barrier to be placed, it simply didn't hardly move at all, just speared into the car and nearly out the other side..........

Nice gesture to post him as the winner after finding out the bad news. *Edit* They actually declared him the winner on a technicality. He was the leader of the previous lap run under green and they use a time clock like F1 does. All laps were not complete but the time clock had expired before they went racing again so he was declared the winner.

Jorge Goeters is driving the car that turned him. He is a very emotional racer and has to be devastated by the accident.

Some other hard hits similer were Steve Grissom at Atlanta and Jeff Fuller at Kentucky.

I was at Bristol when Mike Harmon hit the open gate.......It was very ugly.

I've seen Harmon's and Waltrip's Bristol cars at the Talladega muesum, pretty remarkable they walked away.

The list can go on and on of bad Nascar crashes but the Harmon and Waltrip one's at Bristol are the closest to this one. Both hit an open area where the end of the wall speared into the car. They both miraculously walked away with hardly a scratch on them.

Yeah that Jeff Fuller one was really bad looking, the car just dead stopped when it hit that wall, amazing he didn't lose his life in it.
