    Default Flathead Catfish

It's been a while, but here is the Flathead Cat I caught back in the spring.
It's kinda funny how I landed this big ugly mug. It was around 1:30 (pm), and I figured I would go fishing for an hour or so before I had to go to work. There is a lake in Iowa Park, called Lake Gordon (about 5 miles west of Wichita Falls on HWY 287). It's a small lake, but what the heck, I just wanted to get out. I was using one of my favorites. A Bomber Shad crankbait. I was there till about 2:30. Almost time to head to work. Our yard is not 15 minutes from this lake. I figured I would cast a couple more times, and then head out. My last cast, it felt like I got hung up. I pulled back, and all of a sudden, my line just took off. It felt like forever, but it probably took 5 minutes to land him. I called the Parks, and Wildlife, and described it to the guys, and they said that it sounded like a lake record. I hauled butt all the way back into town. Weighed, and measured. After getting all that done, I called my dad to see if he wanted to clean it for me, since I had to head for work. He was running errands, so I called one of the guys I work with, and he took it. I got to work just in time.

It weighed 22.5 lbs, and 34.6 inches long.

Yes, it was a lake record.
It's the biggest dern thing I ever caught. The whole time, while I was reeling him in, I kept thinking, "what in the world is this?!" I was kinda half scared.
When I got him close enough to the bank, I could see him, and the size of his head, it took me a second to realize what it was.

I love to fish but I haven't done it in so long! My oldest daughter loves it, too. I've never taken the others. That would have been something that she and I would have loved to see! It was a good looking fish, that's for sure! I bet it was a little scary! I have never caught anything really big like that!

    Great catch Wabbit!
The stories are the best part,
and you are allowed to embellish this, as the years go by!

You will get a kick out of Fredog's thread on "rednecks noodling."
    lets go fishing

I just watched that video again, and had to laugh my ass off.
I just noticed, the second redneck came up with his catfish, and still had his hat and sunglasses on. Too funny!

Thank you, roadhog. It was something!

I've not seen that video, but I've seen others like it. I may be wrong here, but Oklahoma might be the only state that still allows Noodling. Those Noodling guys are crazy! Aint no way I'd do that!
