Default Ricky Williams to return to the Dolphins

It was reported in this morning's paper that Ricky Williams will return to the Miami Dolphins beginning with practice this coming Monday. Even though the Dolphins have an 0-9 record you wouldn't think they'd be that desperate. "He'll be a member of this team," Miami coach Cam Cameron said. "He'll be a Miami Dolphin".
"Looks like a legend and an outta work bum look a lotta like Daddy," Little Enos Burdette.
    Hook 'em Horns!!
"Life is hard. It's harder if you're stupid." John Wayne
    "Talk to me Goose".
"What we're dealin' with here, is a complete lack of respect for the law," Sheriff Buford T. Justice.

At least til the next drug test. Sorry how many chances are they going to give this REJECT from the Projects. He should be doing time like Vick also instead they keep giving him chance after chance. Here is a way to stop illegal drugs in sports you get caught doing them immeadiate LIFETIME BAN for any Performance enhancing and especially the Illegal ones like WEED and Coccanie. Get a DUI 2 year ban second one gone for LIFE no chance to appeal it no chance to coach NOTHING. Kids look up to you as a role model and HERO start acting like one.

MIke all I am saying is look at all the Drug scandals that are in Sports now. The Tour de France should be called the Drug de Farce the NFL is almost the National Felons League the MLB has so many players on ROIDS they can not keep a straight face. I could go on but do not want to get banned.

And that right there is the problem. They're not role models they're people, real human beings that sometimes make bad choices. We put these guys up on a pedestal and when we find out they're humans with flaws just like the rest of us we tear them down and call them bums. I don't put them on pedestals so I accept there mistakes and move on.

With the amount of money in professional sports now a days and the pressure they're under how can they not be tempted. Prolong my career a little and I can make another 3 million, they think.

Don't give me the old days crap either, guys did the same things back then it just wasn't reported. Maybe not steroids per sa, but they had other temptations.

Actually you would just not as good. Modell would have to put people without Criminal records on the field. Look at the NBA they get into anykind of trouble on or off the court and they come down HARD on them players Refs coaches does not matter who they are even owners just ask Mark Cuban of the Mavs how much he has been fined for his outbursts.

Yeah, I'm not saying there shouldn't be consequences, just that we forget sometimes that these guys are human and have flaws and weaknesses just like the rest of us.

    EDIT: Except for me

Same here. I remember my HS days of waking up Saturday and not being able to get out of bed without help. I also was exposed to underaged drinking but refused to do it for a simple reason I knew what my father would do to me when HE GOT HOME. These players now get into trouble and it gets covered up until someone dies or is severly injured and it can not be quieted up. Yet they still have people defend them look at Micheal Vick he is a Convicted FELON for DOG FIGHTING yet people still want him to be able to play in the NFL after he gets out of prison.

They are professional ATHELETES, "heros, role models"?????? Maybe the parents of the kids who think of them as that should maybe DIRECT them toward other professions, as far as "role models and heros" go. That would actually be getting INVOLVED in your childrens lives, not just turning on the channel and letting whoever is on it guide your childs lives and social habits. That would take some ACTUAL EFFORT and TIME on your part, not just passing the responsibility off onto anybody else. As far as comparing Ricky Williams to Micheal Vick's crimes......smoking pot vs. killing dogs/dog fighting....... really think about that statement really, really think........is it the SAME?......think hard, do not just blurt out the first concious remark. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Ironeagle,....... have you ever heard of the expression "the person who speaks/talks the most is the one who is usually the most guilty" ? Just wondering.

Superdave do not even go there there are 3 people I consider my role models one is my father. He drove OTR for years sacrificing alot for HIS kids so we could do better and when the time came and he needed help I was the one that put MY life on hold til he was able to retire. Second is his father a B-24 ball turret gunner in the ETO who went on the Ploesti raid never met the man but he raised my father right. 3rd is my oldest brother a Master Sargent in the USAF last year when my middle brother and his wife screwed up so bad and lost custody of their kids rather than let them get put into the foster care system he adopted them both. He has 2 of his own and took on 2 toddlers when his are tweens that right there says more about his charactor than any professonial sports player.

I will never let my kids forget were they came from and also that family comes first. We are a close knit group and when the crappola hits all you have is family friends disapper faster than your cash does.

Ironeagle.......... I did not "go there", you went "there" and I was responding to how vague and ignorant your response was. The statement of the "REJECT from the Projects" did not come across very educated, not that you aren't, just didn't project yourself in a thoughtful manner. I might ad there has been plenty "rejects" from the sub-burbs as well. Neighbor hoods don't make "rejects", bad decisions make "rejects", no matter where you live. I know, it is just easier, for someONE to vaguely point at the "projects" instead of pointing the blame on the person rather than his/hers external elements. That is a WHOLE other discussion though, one that I am sure you would be biased. I was merely stating how unfair it was to put M. Vicks charges against R. Williams. They aren't connected in any way other than they are both black, which I could come to the conclussion of the wording of YOUR posts, that you might have some racist tendencies. :? Also, I did not question YOUR heros, I was simply replying to YOUR stating that "kids look up to you as a role model and HERO", AGAIN, I think people, like WHO YOU stated previously, think as atheletes as role models and heros are letting the television rule there childrens live's. I disagree with your comments as stated before, thats all I am saying. I am glad to hear you had such great role models, not everybody is so lucky, especially people living in the "projects".
