    Default Boats

Well, it's spring time, and my dad, and my brother in law(sister's husband),and I are fishing on the weekends. I hate fishing on the bank. My grandpa had a boat, and I guess I got spoiled. After he died, my mom's brother got the boat, and we have never had one. I asked my dad, and brother in law if they would be interested in all 3 of us pitching in on a boat.

My brother in law told me that we could find a good aluminum boat for $1000 or cheaper. Just curious, what is a price range for a good, used boat?

If it flies,f%&ks, or floats it's nothing but a money pit!

I got a little 12 john boat for free last year. It's small but oh well. I need to get a little motor for it though.

Check around on ebay that will give you idea of what you'll need to spend.

If you look around, Im sure you could find a good little flatbottom boat in the 700-1200 range with a good engine. When you buy a little aluminum boat like that you are most likely paying for the engine. A boat like that doesnt really have much value. You find a flatbottom boat with an engine for less than about 600...most likely the engine will be giving you nothing but trouble. Flatbottoms are good for rivers and small lakes....but suck in the big lakes.
As far as full bassboats, if I were on a budget, I would still stay away from anything under about 7 grand. Like the poster said, boats are money pits and you get what you pay for.

I've bought some pretty good used boats in the past for under $1000 and that included motor and trailer.
