    Default Bristol repaving

Here's a cool pic of the progress of the repaving from Bristol, pretty far along if you ask me,I have tickets to the fall race and certainly hope the racing is better after they are done that it has been lately there.

Won't take'em too long to pour it all. What NASCAR needs to do for the night race is to make everyone run the middle groove or high groove in practice to work a 2nd line in. They did that at Richmond the first race after repaving it a couple of years ago and the 2nd groove was there by lap 200.

They will just get a big ol' laser screed up there and put down an easy 400 yards a day. Once they start laying the concrete, won't take them but a month to finish it if the weather is good thru-out. Then got to redo the walls and your all set. What they should put in is that new concrete, Pervious Concrete. Allows water to pass right thru it and keeps the track completely dry. Won't have to use jet blowers on it. It can take up to 288 inches of rain per hour and is being used at some truck terminals now to see how it holds up. One has been in place for 7 years without a problem. They would only have to stop the race because the drivers can't see out the windshield's.

I think that was more of an idea from the people that were gonna build that track near Pittsburgh, never liked the idea anyway. The banking at Bristol is taking shape, you can actually see the way it concaves(?) in the middle, should be damn interesting.

Roof will not be added for any track. Too many other problems will arise. Ever been to a Monster Truck that was indoors?? You usually come out sick because of the exhaust fumes not being bale to escape. And noise, the announcers on the radio and TV will not be able to announce over the noise.

I've went to sprint car and stock car races inside a convention center, the noise wasn't really a problem(18cars vs. 43) but the fumes were defintely a problem.

I used to go to a local track here in VA that ran 20-25 cars every week. Those things are dead silent compared to Cup cars. You can actually talk to the person next you in a normal voice and they can hear you perfectly all night long. Cup cars are loud, real loud. Bristol is already loud enough that ear plugs only help a little bit, adding a roof would be a bad idea.

Sprints on asphalt are pretty damn close to cup cars, but I agree 43 cup cars at bristol will give ya a headache at the end of the night.

I hate having that headache from the noise. All depends on the stands at each track as far as the noise level. I bet Indy's front stretch is much louder than Bristol.

If you want to put a roof up, make the stands real gradual and leave a large gap between the top of the stands and the roof to allow fresh air in. Something like a tent with everything under it.

I always sat in turn 3 for the Brickyard, sat on the front stretch for the US GP and there is nothing like 18,000 rpm F-1 car blasting down the front stretch of Indy......I know this is sacralige(sp) to Nascar fans but for pure speed, noise and technology the F-1 race was pretty damn cool.

That is one race I would like to see, the USGP. Those cars are screaming off of Turn 1 heading towards Turn 4. I heard something about it being the fastest straight speeds they run all year. If I can't make that USGP because the FIA decides the US doesn't need a race, I would like to see the GP in Monte Carlo down along the Riveria. That is considered F1's crown jewel event, literally if you know the story from a few years ago. A car had a real million dollar jewel on the nose and got into a wreck early on only to lose the jewel somewhere on the track and was never found.

Geez the pit lane wall is tall. Looks to be about 4 feet high.

Is it just me or does the track have the look to it like from the movie "Cars"?? Got a nice silvery look.

The tall one is the retaining wall, the pit wall will be behind that, the silver look to the turn is the base layer.
