mike, Stewart has turned over a new leaf after meeting this girlfriend he has. The Stewart at the beginning of last year would have ripped Busch a new one for that and gone looking to bust some heads. The sun was not in their eyes, just an excuse to help Busch out in defense. Coming into 3, your facing East coming into 3 and 4, your facing North, off of 4, your facing West. The sun sets in the West still, therefore the sun was not in their eyes yet at the center of 3 and 4. Had it happened between Turn 4 and Turn 1, that would be a different story.
Stewart also said he never lifted he did get it caught just before Kurt hit him,Mark Martin said the same thing about his slip there on the last lap no way he would lift, you lose too much momentem if you lift.As far as the girlfriend thing goes that might make a difference in his attitude but I think he just has a confidence this year that he is definitely the one to beat and nothing is gonna bother him.
I heard the same interview. Tony said he never lifted. He said when he got loose he lost a little and thats how Kurt got into him but he never lifted.

Unless you're in a controlled slide that you want you're gonna lift a bit.

The way he slowed down, it sure looked like he lifted, he must have been a lot more sideways than it looked on TV. Guess we will never know if he was telling the truth or not on that, no real time telemetry that showed if the pedal lifted at all. Not like it matters, he still wrecked!!

Don't know if it's just me or what but the replays I saw him sliding quite a bit.
He sure had a strong car though
