Ever notice how sound travels out on a frozen lake?
I don't think anyone figured out an easy way to start
a motor in sub-zero temps. Least...from all the French
    being spoken, and the dim...fllldddrrrr...fllldddrrrr....flllldddrrrr
    (10 mins later) fllldddrrrrr..flldddrrrr flddrrfldddrrflddrrflddrfllllddddrrrr
    F#@$###& G#@#$D@#$##S&$%B%$#@@#C%$#@#$S#$@#$!!!!!

But we were use to it after practicing all Fall with our 60 lb. chainsaws.
I remember my Dad got to use the chain saw mostly....
and I was still stuck with the axe and crosscut saws.

I don't remember the make or model of our first chainsaws.
I do remember them being huge and heavy.
Still...they beat crosscutting a tree....and trimming with an axe....
    good lord...all the hand splitting.

Sounds like some of those snowmobiles have pretty good sized engines. This may be a scary question but how fast do some of them go? 8)

Yoop, do people ever soup up their snowmobiles or have snowmobile races and obstacle courses and stuff such as that?

Eagle River, Wi. has the World Championships and that's about 100 miles from me.
They have regular road type courses sorta like NASCAR on Snow and they have courses like cycle tracks with the Jumps and stuff. Yeah-most of the competive races have modified engines.

This is the Enemy of Snowmobiling :P

If its got a motor a guys gonna try and make it go faster! Even though the top models can pull 11's in the quarter right out of the box. I went to a snowmobile grass drag competition last weekend. Yoop alot of engines are still 2 stroke. The 4 strokes aren't being real well accepted yet. Too much weight and less torque.
