I hear one of the biggest gripes about Rockwell/Meritor transmissions is the air over electric range change system. On the other hand, Eaton/Fuller has stuck to the air operated range change system.
FWIW, Eaton invented the range-change transmission when it first introduced the "Roadranger" back in the 1950's. I think Rockwell's air over electric system was an attempt to "improve" on an old idea, however as we all know, improvements aren't always better.
