With a bad DAC report is there any advantage of buying a truck and leasing onto a company or would things still be basicly the same? Would the insurnace be so high that it would cost prohibited?
Just a thought,not a plan.

well last night buddy called and found me a 2000 century class for 7k.He said it was an okay truck and I could run local like him.
Maybe that's what I'll do until I can get cleared up.
When you lease a truck to most carriers you will need to meet the same requirements as if you were a company driver. Either way they will likely pull your DAC. Smaller carriers may or may not pull a DAC. If you are having a problem finding a company driving job you will most likely have the same difficulty leasing to a carrier. Before going out and buying a truck I would suggest contacting one or more carriers to see if they will even lease you on to their authority. What is on your DAC that causes you concern?
Another thing you could consider is getting your own authority. Insurance companies don't currently pull your DAC. If you have moving violations then that will cause them concerns.
DAC is no different than a phone or a fax verification and all jobs within the last 3 years MUST be fully verified in some way. So whether you are dealing with a large company or a small company (especially with CSA 2010 coming), the information must be obtained.
The only time it pays to purposefully avoid a DAC company is if you have a bad work record that is between 3 and 7 years old, that might cause a potential employer to say no to hiring you. The reason for that is beyond 3 years, an employer does not have to obtain the verification and beyond 7 years, all work history and accident information is removed from your DAC report, though the company, job, and dates of employment will remain until the 10 year mark.
GMAN,
Swift put 3 accidensts on my DAC while I said there are only 2.
The 3rd was when I was stuck in in a ditch and had to be winched out.
Since a tow truck was involved they claimed it as an accident, resulting in my termination.
I was a little surprised since my former team mate hit a another truck in a truck stop and nothing was ever said to him about. But that's another story.
Thanks TF,
I just read your other post about DAC and will call them ASAP.
Prior to Swift I had a good work history.28 years with the same company.
The simple fact that you were stuck in the ditch, made it an accident....unless you were directed to drive into said ditch by your employer, the customer, or a law enforcement officer.
Even then...it can be classified an accident. (As the driver of the truck, you are supposed to have, and use, better first-hand knowledge of a situation than your employer, and especially a customer or law enforcement officer.)
